I was wanting to know a fair price for a nib Texaco .049? Anyone know? Thanks for the help.

I don't know a fair price for the engine, but .02 cents is just silly.  It is a free flight engine and perhaps if you asked in one of those forums (Hip Pocket or Small Flying Arts) you may get a good idea and probably an offer or two!  H^^

I just did a quick check on an auction site and over the last 30 days there were three NIB and ranged from 42 to 62 dollars. In other markets maybe not so much.

On the right day you could get a hefty price........N.I.B. would help that along. Maybe a collector would go a C-note. Good luck H^^

Paid $50 for mine NIB last year, and that is close to what they have sold for recently, as Robert said.

Are you looking for one, or considering selling one?

   One thing to take into consideration is which version, large tank or small tank. When the 1/2A Texaco event started, they used the larger tank, like the Golden Bee and Black Widow stunt tanks. The guys started to figure out how to make a Cox .049 run almost the full 15 minute max on that large tank of fuel (8 cc? ) Then they changed the rules to make the smaller tank mandatory. Guys that use them for competition need the small tank. I'm of the opinion that there isn't a lot of collector value to the engine, aand anybody that wants it will probably use it in a Texaco model.

Thanks for the replies you guys. I was approached by a coworker that has one for sale. I am not intrested in it, but told him I may be able to find out what a fair price for it is. This particular engine has the large plastic tank on it. And the single big ehaust port on both sides of the cylinder instead of the finer slots. I'll pass this info on to him, and maybe this little engine will end up in the classifieds here.
