Title: Counting laps
Post by: Paul Taylor on August 23, 2009, 05:37:48 PM
OK,
So I was told 2 laps between stunts. After watching Billy W. do his thing on you tube it look like he did one lap between and started his next maneuver on lap two.

So let's say I take off and count up to lap five. When I come around for lap six to I start the wing over or go around another half lap?

What say ye?

When I launch or finish a maneuver, I say to myself "zero", thus I am at the beginning of the two laps between maneuvers.  Due to the fact that the overhead eight must begin on the upwind side, the actual laps are 2.5 prior to the overhead eight.  Hope this helps.

I was taught to count a lap each time the plane passed the judges. Since the judges are usually on the up wind side, thia works well. As stated, the overhead eightswould start at the point where I woulod count 3.
