I wonder if future historians will dub WWII as "the airplane war", for having so many planes in the air, and produced, etc.  I can't imagine such a big war today where the gen'rals don't get impatient 'round about month 14 and start lobbing nukes.

 Race 74 was recently finished and was participating at Reno this year. It was done by (Bob) Odegaard Aviation, the same group who revived Race 57, the red/white F2G. Like Race 57, Race 74 is the actual original airplane.

 I'm really thankful that there are people out there with gobs of money who are interested in preserving, and flying, these historic aircraft so that we can all enjoy them.

I was at the Reno race this year, and saw #74 up close. It is a looker for sure. It first raced the year I was born, in Cleveland. Unfortunately I did not get to see it fly, but I salute the people who restored it to mint condition. Glad I got to see it.

I'm currently fitting a Saito .40 to a Brodak Corsair + building the rest of the fuse. I'm seriously considering building this...(less the 8 ft. wing chop)

I regret not getting a chance to see it before it's demise.

 That's a real neat project Doug, but I seriously think you should go bigger than the .40 and use the .56 on that plane. I've been running two of the .40's on my PBY now for two seasons and am very happy with them, but that Corsair is going to want more power than one of them if you want to do any confident stunt flying with it. Always remember that you can easily slow it down a bit if you want to, but if you don't have enough power to begin with you are just S.O.L. If you go with the .56 I'm very confident that you'll be glad you did.

I did a special drawing version of the Brodak Corsair with modified formers "G", "H", and "J".  These are the three formers behind the middle of the cockpit which converts the plane to one with the bubble canopy.  A little addition of the front scoop and now you have the F2G Corsair.  It would appear that my PDF converter is being a bit slow this morning.  When the PDF pops up, I'll post the drawings.
WW, do you think that the OS52 4-S would be good?  It is a little lighter and lots of power as I have seen it run.

Just got back here from the site for the Corsairs.   A lot of stuff over there.  Would like to see the camera the guy uses for the panoramas.  Especially the one showing different aircraft at different museums.   I remember being able to see the Guppy from 10 highway coming into to Tuscon going to the VSC.   Now with all the build up of businesses I don't see it any more. 

Also I have the plans that Don Hutchison made a few years ago.

 (Psst-Hey Pat, it's F2G Corsair, not FG-2 like your plans show )

 I really like your Corsair design Pat, I wish I could find the time to build 1/2 the stuff I'd like to. I really didn't need to see the bubble top option.

 My build list it severely backed up right now with stuff I already have on the shelves and also some "TOP SECRET" scratchbuild ideas of my own.

 As far as the OS.52 goes, I can't say from experience as I've never played with one of them. If comparing an OS.30 to a Saito .30 is any indication though, I'd say the OS.52 would do OK in the Corsair. I have witnessed that the O.S..30 makes noticably more power than the Saito .30, that I will guarantee. The other Saito's are ALL great from what I've seen, but for some reason the .30 is a wimpy little thing by comparison.
