Riley Wooten had a foam wing fast combat kit called the Shadow. Late 70's/ early eighties, I believe. I built one in about 1986. Perhaps Riley will fill us all in...

Looks an awful lot like a Stan Powell Dove (except for the name on the wing of course)...Concours winner in early eighties (I think).

If that is the plane I think it is, I cut the wing core for it.  Built by a member of our club-Dave Noel, before he quit stunt.  As far as I know it is the first foam wing, capstripped stunt plane.  It flew very well for Dave, but he was still in the intermediate/advanced level when he quit.  Don't know if anyone else flew it before he sold it.

Hi Phil et al,

Yes that plane was Dave's! As a newbie back in the late eighties, Dave gave me the carcass of that plane to learn how stunt planes should be put together! I had no idea at that time about slide in tanks and shimming them up and down to improve engine runs! This plane showed me those fine points.

Dave Noel had many fine designs and renditions all created out of his head. Unfortunately he built these planes from his mind and didn't draw plans, a pencil sketch was his only reference as he built! If it looked right it usually flew right! One of his designs, the Orion, received 20 appearance points at the Nat's. unfortunately I don't remember which one. Later after Dave retired, I bought this plane from him and flew it at Cincinnati, OH contest where it was seen by Alan Brickhaus who remembered it instantly from the Nat's.
