Marking a thread
« on: March 07, 2013, 10:01:20 AM »
Sparky, is there any way in the forum software that a member can select a specific topic (thread, whatever) and mark it to say

"I don't ever want to have this topic appear in any list of the forum when I visit."

This would help my masochistic tendencies of viewing certain inanity by making that drivel simply not appear for me. I admit it also would cut down on a frequent source of humor in certain cases, but the trade-off would be worth it. It really is hard to not add to yield to the temptation to see what recent strange an illogical additions have been added to some topics, and thus I could diminish feeding the narcissistic tendencies of some thread authors.

Please! This is a serious request! The time and bandwidth waste is becoming a serous problem!

BillLee,

Why don't you do what I do, and my guess is most others. Just don't go to the Thread which you have little or no interest in. Nothing hard about that.

I've learned, over a period of time, especially when I see certain names, that uninteresting conversation or bumping is what is taking place.

I just choose not to view it.

I'm sure some replies are taken more serious than others, depending on who is doing the replying.

Works for me!

Charles

Edit: Changed "needless" to "uninteresting."

I appologize for first choosing the word needless. Really a bad choice of words. No modeler's remarks are really needless. Sorry again.

While the recent additions to the forum have been helpful, they still don't offer what I want to see added.

I want to be able to mark a topic "Don't show".

Don't list it in the "unread posts" when a new addition has been made.
Don't list it when I visit the forum where it resides.

Simply: make it totally as if it didn't exist for my access.

Oh, yes, I can ignore a thread by just not going there, but I want to eliminate the TEMPTATION as well! Kind of like a person trying to lose weight by being on a see-food diet.  :)
