I must have missed the beginning of this construction, whats the specs and engine to be used. Hope you have better weather to do any finishing there than up here in the Quad cities (rain, humidity, wind).

Weather is C--P! PA.75 powered on a pipe. You didn't miss it I didn't post it. The wing is a year old. I started this over a year ago and didn't like how it was coming out. So I took it apart and scrapped the whole project.

While digging in my shop I found the wing and it sparked my interest to try again. I built a new fuse and stab/rudder.
Weight is extremely light! I have not weighed it but will later today after the flaps and everything is attached and report back.

Stab Fillets are balsa. Leading edge fillets are a 1/32 plywood curve ,epoxied to the fuse and wing. The blue putty you see is the Super-fill. I will fill this in a few coats.

Is the XL Continental a Tom Warden Continental on Steroids?  Or is the name just a coincidence?  Looks great.

I flew with Tom in the late 70tys. His continental was what really drew me to the hobby. I have one of his planes but it is no where near like his old work. I have decided to make a modern version of the old design. So it will look similar but it has no linage to the old plane.

Great, that makes sense.  I too flew with Tom in the late sixties at Whitter Narrows.  I have one of Eric Rules Continental's in a box and plans for the Trophy Trainer.  I flew a Throphy Trainer way back then, I got the original Trophy Trainer plans from Tom, I went to his house and saw the Continental for the first time.

Then you also know Bill Noyes? I flew the original TT as well. In those days there were no PAMPA classes and I always thought it was a big deal to fly with the big boys! I bought Bill's Chipmunk that was painted just like the Continental for a whopping $40.00 Man was that a lot of money for a plane then.

It will be painted just like this one.

WS 62, tail is 18.5, nose is 10,PA .75 with pipe. If you notice the LG is fuse mounted for grass flying.

I have finished all the wood work and will start finishing tomorrow, weight of airframe is 27oz pretty good I think for a plane this big.

Thanks Doc. This weekend I have been in the shop working on this plane. Its amazing what I can get done in 3 days straight. I need 3 more to be in the air. Well maybe 2 weeks.

I tried something new to me on this plane. I used .02 CF all over the wing and fuse,stab,ele,flaps. So the whole plane go it. I will start coving with Polyspan tomorrow night. Realistic terms 2 weeks out. I will post photos later tonight,also more bits in Breezpay.

Magazine cover for dashboard, It will be much smaller for the airplane. I will have this glued inside the cockpit
