Continental kit and Tucker 4 kit update
« on: May 24, 2008, 07:15:13 PM »
This is to let you know that the second batch of the Laser Continental kits are nearly done. This is the Tom Warden Continental. I hope to have them ready to ship around the first of June. There are still a few that are not spoken for. The cost is $125.00 plus shipping. Recently I shipped a kit and the shipping cost has gone up. What I plan to do is charge the actual shipping to your address. As always there will be no charge for packing and handling.

As soon as the Continental kits are finished I plan to start building the Tucker 4 prototype. I recently received a letter from the lawyer who is the conservator for Bob Tucker. In a recent visit, Bob told the lawyer that he would like to see a kit of the Tucker 4. I will be giving one to Bob when they are finished.

Could we see a photo of a Continental?

I drafted the AutoCAD plans for Bill Sawyer's Laser Continental kit. Here are a couple of shots of the
2 page plan, which may provide better idea.

BTW, I believe the shot of the model above, at the 2005 VSC is the actual Tom Warden model.
It seems to have his AMA number.

Like the Playboy, this is a gorgeous model. The Minado is a beam wing version of the same design,
so look for a kit for it eventually. The Playboy is a beam wing ship, and we learned from it, to develop
the "Laser Lock" ribs method, which has all ribs laser cut and precisely fitted.

Well from looking at these you guys finally got it right. That looks like the right plan. Good Job. Wheel pants are typical Tom Warden

Hi Robert,

It was scaled from the published M.A.N. plan, as accurate as I could get it (within a whisker).
I've heard that the actual Continental Tom built had some minor changes, but I don't know.
I also referenced two older plans, which Bill Sawyer had gotten directly from Tom Warden,
which had different length nose, wheel pants, and one showed a "pimple" (vent) on the side
of the nose.

I believe the photo you posted is the ship from the M.A.N. article photos, which goes with the
published plan.

The clever so rude to the good!" -Elizabeth Wordsworth
