Control line in Florida is most active just south of Tampa, in Ellenton, and on the Atlantic side there is scattered activity from Titusville to Jupiter. Miami probably has some, too, but I’m not familiar with that area.
From Ocala to Orlando you’ll find lots of RC clubs. I sent you a PM with the names of two control line guys I know of near The Villages. And another guy to avoid.
I won’t try to talk you out of moving to Central Florida, but after six years of it, the wife and I returned to Maine.

Your mileage may vary.

Motorman    I lived in Florida , Clearwater and Oldsmar for 29 years 1972-2001.  We ,the family spent a lot of time in the Ocala area. We went there for camping, spring and river diving, bike riding. My business took me there also.  There neve has been much if any CL activity in that area of Florida. CL people move there and disappear.  Maybe other interest take over in retirement.  You need to go to Google and look up the " Good and Bad of the Villages"   I was a Realtor for my last 10 years in Florida and some people loved that type of living. Tampa Bay area where I did most of my sales has a lot of The Village type of living. Top of the world was one of the first. CL modler's tent to be independent type of people and do not do well in that type of structure. One thing I found interesting is there is no HOA as you are expected to keep up your property yourself. There are many other fees that can get expensive.
There are a lot of nice places to live in Florida that have CL activity but for a guy from the northeast the humidity will get to you. I lived in NYS for 32 tears and now NC for 19 years.  NC is a good compromise weather wise by CL activity is limited to the Charlotte Area

Howdy Motorman!  Well, you've heard what the others who "bailed" outt'a Florida have said ... now for the thoughts of one who's wife said "Move?? ... up north ??... in the cold??  Do you want me to cancel your breathing permit??"  LL~ LL~ LL~

As Jim said, we have a fairly active club of about 10-15 pilots all c/l (no r/c allowed at our site) and we meet nearly every Saturday that the Good Lord allows.  Titusville has a "small town" flavor yet we're within an easy drive of the "Big City" attractions and traffic such as Daytona Beach, Cocoa Beach, Melbourne, Orlando and Kissimmee.

Yes, there's a fair amount of activity over in the Manatee County and Indian River County area but I believe the core of their fields are setup for the r/c guys.  Nevertheless, I would suggest reaching out to each of the clubs (they're all AMA sanctioned as far as I know) and see what they require for participation and their level of interest.  I can only speak for our club, The North Brevard Figure 9er's, we have no dues, we agree to be as safe a humanly possible and welcome all who wish to enjoy a common fellowship and good time!!

Jim Mynes got scared of flying with us because he was the best pilot we had and like baby chicks we started buggin' him to "feed us"!!   'Cept we don't do no stinkin' 'lectric!!  (well ... almost no 'lectric) LL~ LL~!!

I hope your decision bring you great joy and satisfaction ... plus we're front row for every space launch!

That’s not exactly accurate. I stopped making the hour and a half (one way) drive to fly with your group because after everybody flew twice you were rolling up the lines so you could beat the lunch crowd at McDonalds. It just wasn’t worth three hours of driving to fly twice. I went there to fly, if I wanted to eat McDonalds, there was one in Mount Dora, five minutes from my house.
And just for the record, I don’t think any of you ever listened to my advice anyway. I think Tom Zon would back me up on that.
I feel better now that I’ve gotten out from under the bus.

LL~ LL~  Well, that's true, it was quite a drive for you and for that I will never hold it against you!!  I wish we had been closer.  However, as you recognized, food and ice tea was a high priority for the gang for the most part  ;D ;D!!  Finally Jim, Jim, Jim ... you know these guys didn't listen to anybody ... Tom included!!   LL~ LL~  Guess what ... nothing's has changed!!  LL~ LL~

MM....a big advantage of the Villages is that they have the highest STD rate per capita in the US. A golf cart and a pineapple is all it takes
