Title: Contest thought........
Post by: jim gilmore on August 27, 2011, 02:10:23 AM
If I could get 10 people to compete whom would be interested in a simple contest ?
I'll provide 1 free akromaster kit as the prize..
And a minumun of 10 entrants build what they can from an akro master kit and use any engine froman .09 to a 15 to power it.
Do any mods you want, and provide photos. winner would be base on being the best looking most uni1que build....
Is there any interest ?

Hi Jim,

I think it is a great idea!  Unfortunately I don't think I can find time to actually build an Akromaster, but I really like the idea!

I'd like to see just what people would come up with it. It is a very basic kit but changes could really cratesomething far different even with using just the kit.

basically yes, build the akromaster by sig..roughty a $25 dollar kit from Sam's stuff... I have no relationship to them..just know whom sells it NOT pushing where you buy one....
Like to see at least 10 people show an interest and I'll provide a kit as a prize.....would like to see picture of the results posted and know what you changed...

I have had a similar thought for a contest albeit with a different set of rules and parameters.

Id like to see a contest where everyone flew the same model. The exact SAME model.. not build a variation, however a single model, that everyone gets 2 flights on.

No test flights, engine is setup by the contest director or whoever does the judges warm up. Its identical for everyone. You don't even allow the trimming out of the handle. - Its just pick up the handle and explode into a pattern.

Highest score wins. - It would be who could get their head around the new setup the fastest, and adapt to the change the quickest.

Interesting concept.

Alternatively to that - you could allow each flier to have 1 practice flight before-hand. then Launch into the contest.

Interesting...I too agree with the idea.

Seems a bunch of guys were doing that in OTS, so they made a bunch of new rules to stop that nonsence!
