Nobody from Middle Earth USA. Winter has begun and we are mostly done till spring. I may get lucky to get one or two doable flying days a month now till March. You southern guys have more fun...like blonds!

Friday morning I will be on my way to the El Dorado contest.

El Dorado.
Hospitality and the baked goods are unequalled.

He Dave,
You need to gather up Ol' Doc and come down to Tucson in January for the Southwest Regionals. Usually great flying weather. There's also VSC in March also usually great flying weather and wonderful competition!
Not to mention the PARTIES!

No contest for me but the Middle Tennessee Radio Control Clubs is having their annual Swap Meet. 100+ tables. I always find some good deals on motors (FP's, LA's even TT .36's) and never pass a junk box without going through it. Lot's of gems the RC guys think are junk.

I was surprised visiting a local radio club that no body builds models anymore!
For those down under or traveling all the way to New Zealand we have the Auckland free flight Club hosting the Control Line Aerobatic Series on 18th November!
(hopefully I will fly this year and not just organize it, i.e. no BBQ this year!)

Hi Brett,
Not sure yet but I'll Query Lou W. Tomorrow and find out. Historically it's been held on the next to last weekend in January. I'm seldom able to attend Club meetings so I'm often in the dark until I ask someone at the field!
I definitely intend to compete this year so last place in Expert is sewn up!

The Wichihawks have decided to have a FUN-FLY on Memorial Day weekend, May 26th and 27th, 2018. A FUN-FLY seems to be more fun than a contest!
The Wichihawks have two of the greatest paved circles in the country! We also have 3 paved centers for flying from the grass!
A fun-fly with the Wichihawks offers pilots from all over the country, to visit Wichita without the pressure of intense competition! This year, pilots may fly whatever they wish and fly whenever they wish! This could be the best time for the pilots to practice their racing and pit strategy, new Maneuvers for their stunt routine, or testing new designs before the full-blown contest season arrives! Our fun fly will not have the pressure of intense competition!
Everyone is welcome to attend, and we have not established a landing fee for this event! More information will be posted as it becomes available.

Yup, El Dorado. Looking at the King Orange next month.

There is a nice contest in the Tampa bay area this weekend. I was going but my kids from there are coming up to my house,Concord NC, this November. They want to see it before I sell it soon.
Have fun you guys in Central Florida

Sounds like fun Randy! I’m pretty fed up with the cold and snow by that time of year. Of course their isn’t a way to practice for it here but would be fun anyway. Maybe next year- I got signed up to babysit my grandson for a week about then while my daughter flies down to Atlanta to go to some concert with her friends. Maybe I’ll get Doc stirred up for that. Hard enough sometimes to get him out of the shop and to the field at times.

Hi Dave,
Our field is always available and everyone usually comes early by several days and gets lots of practice!!
We typically fly about every day of the week before a contest!

Well Dave it is hard to get to the field when the grand daughter thinks the Suburban is hers. I too would love to get back to Tuscon as there is a great bunch of guys and gals out there. The weather is nice most of the time in March during VSC, but I remember one year I never got an official flight in and Old Time was did on second day. I was a judge that that year for OT. Classic was a blow out on first day and second day they didn't even set, I know the restaurant got a lot of business that day.
I vaguely remember the first year I went out and aunt Betty said if we stayed any where but her place we would be written out of her will. Always did odd jobs on her place while there each year. Drove straight through and back that first year. Never again as Tucumcari is now the 1/2 way point. The year I retired I was there for three weeks.

Snowing here today. No contests on the NW schedule for the next few weeks. You never know about our weather. There could be lovely weather any month of the year, but you certainly can't bet on it. Sometimes, July and August can be pretty dry, but might still be windy. y1 Steve
