I was at our Flushing contest on Saturday and had the chance to spend some time talking to Andy Lee. He showed me an old contest flyer from Labor Day 1962 which i thought was really cool so I will post that and 4 others from 1962 that he sent to me. Some of you may remember these meets or maybe even were there. I want to give thanks to Andy for passing these onto us.

I flew at the Far Hill's meet a number of times in my youth. A great contest!

Nice to see the old flyers. I went to many contest in the NJ area in the late 1950,s early 1960 s but do not remember the dates. Also did a lot of FF contest in those years.

Went to the Far Hills , NJ meet in Sept 1967( my first trophy) and the Academy of Aeronautics meet( right next to the airport) in 1969.
Will, I've seen Andy's fabulous CD ,courtesy of Rich Peabody .
Andy also has the AAA Union Model Airplane Club Memorial Day Flyer from 1963. The area meet many consider the largest; with the exception of course of the NY Mirror Meet(s).
But that was before my time, eh Jim V. ?

The Mirror meet. What a contest. They limited the number of contestants to 1000! Won in 1959 as a Junior in PAA Payload Jet free flight. Still have the RCA transistor radio I got as a prize.

I can remember Sam in the 70's. Big personality and always smiling! Wonder how many TV's he actually won! I remember him winning back to back years in the mid to late 70's.
