If they were originally bought from the copyright holder (i.e., not copied, scanned, or whatever), then you're perfectly fine.

If not, then the copyright holder has to know, care, and dare to sue.  You won't be arrested for copyright infringement -- copyright is a civil law thing, not a criminal law thing.

    Just list them here or on eBay and sleep well. It's not worth anyone's time to be looking at who's selling what and go after them. It costs a lot of money just to put out a cease and desist order. It's just a toy airplane plan, not a novel. You may be surprised that, depending on what they are, nobody will be interested in them.
   Hey Ty, 279 ain't squat! I got a stack of 36 by 48 inch flat files, flour drawers in each cabinet stacked five high, that has at least that many in each DRAWER!

Plans ARE cool.  Have you considered papering part of your shop with some of them?  Much better than looking at bare walls.

Just give the plans away free. Charge a nominal shipping and handling fee. You're allowed to give anyone anything you want. But your time and shipping costs you can fairly charge a set amount for.

   If you have a list or can easily put one together, I would be interested in seeing it. In it's early days, RCM was a good magazine and I used to have a subscription back in my R/C sailplane days. They published many neat sailplane and small sport models that I wouldn't mind having the plans for.

For sure! Like Dan, i am a fan of RCM. They had a 40 sized trainer that i would love to have again. I didn't know your friend rusty, but at least you will always have something to remember him by.  My friend Art passed away. The Nobler I've been trimming was his. I'm going to fly it in a few contests this year. I'm keeping his AMA number on it. He taught me a lot about monokote and os engines.

I gave away a lot of plans at a contest I was at in Florida two years ago. Now I see a member of that club is selling the plans.

If you create a spreadsheet list of the plan names and could post it you could see who would like what. Other option is to get in touch with Tom Dixon and see if he wants the lot of them.

Greetings from the ghetto.

I inherited over 200 plan sheets from my late friend Doug Proffitt.  It most likely is around 250.  

Can somebody tell me how I can get rid of them.  I already own about 100 sets myself and most Doug has I am not interested in building.  

My objective is to not get arrested or sued in getting them to a new home.

I believe that as long as you don't copy and sell for profit any of the plans, you are in the clear. I've even been told that anyone that purchases a plan, has the right to copy that plan for their own use/reuse, not to be profited from. In this case, you may want to duplicate a plan for "sacrifice" when cutting ribs/parts, and such, and leave one copy intact.
