How do you get to the new field?  I will be in St Augustine this Saturday for the week, it would be fun to drive by and see what it looks like.

Monday I go to see the Shuttle launch, that should be interesting, never seen anything larger than a Poseidon missile leave the Cape.

Steve:

You need to take SR 16 west out of St. Augustine and go all the way to I95.  Just about one hundred yards past I95, CR 208 angles off the left right in front of Denny's.  Go down 208 about 1/2 mile and look for the Stagecoach RV Park on the left.  Turn in the main entrance for the RV park and follow the driveway straight to the back of the park.  You will see a gate.  That is the entrance to the field.  I will send you an email with my cell number.  Call me and I will be glad to meet you there and give you the 50 cent tour.

Let me know when the grand opening is. If possible, I'd like to drive up from Miami for that.

Where a the pics of the new site? ??? Now for Garf,  most tornados do not cover as much area as hurricanes and in my 68 years I have yet to see one(knock on wood).  My and her family have been thru several hurricanes in Florida now.  Anyway back to subject, is the field done yet? H^^

Here are some shots of the start of construction on the new site. I have a site plan that I drew on autocad and plotted out for use at the construction site. when I figure out how to convert it I'll put it on here so you guys can check it out.

Just got back from the site.  Joe Petty and I have flown four mornings in a row at the new place.  Gotta take advantage of this good weather while it lasts.  A couple of days ago, some wild turkeys checked us out.  This morning, two foxes (the 4 legged kind) watched Joe fly for a short while.

We have talked about having a fly in at some point in the future but a decision has not been made. At any rate, it will be a good while before the work on the site is completed.  Joe, who owns the property, wants the fill dirt for the circles put on a little at a time so the grass can grow back thru and get established before the next layer is added.  Also, we have to be very sure we do not do anything that will have an adverse effect on the property tax "green belt" status that is in place.

Can't fly tomorrow morning, but I will be back out there Tues and Wed.  Thursday has been set aside for a trip to the hobby shops in Orlando.

Lynn Bill,
Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!

A thought - If you have wild pigs up there, consider installing a solar powere electric fence (aka perimeter wire on stakes).
We did and it saved us from major damage. Some of the areas outside the fenced area look like a test range for Army Tanks.
Let me know if you need info re same.

RIGHT Now we are excavating the drainage ditches around the outside the flying site to dry up all the ground water and provide positive drainage for the site nobody wants to fly in a mud hole.Weather is getting better 80s light winds site is drying up for next phase of site work. At work we are going to redo a football field and will have all the sports turf to use on our new field if it is ready for turf at the time of that project if not we will have to by a lot of grass seed. I should have worked on it on sunday but it was Easter had to spend time with the family.
