I believe that it hasn't been mentioned, but Matt Colan graduated from Emory Riddle a couple weeks ago!
He is heading to Oklahoma to fly drones to confuse FAA new hires until he can become one.....
He did a terrific job on his PA 51 powered SV 11 and had it trimmed real, real well at the MCRC field!
Good luck to him!

Congrats Matt.
Now the fun starts!

Kudos Matt from all your friends at NEST. We missed you and your Grand Dad at the Wrentham fun fly this weekend. It was a great turn out!
-
Good work Matt. I know you'll do well in the world of aviation.

Thanks Rich and everyone!
I am heading out to Oklahoma City in the beginning of June to be a remote pilot operator at the FAA academy for Air Traffic Control. The job does not involve me flying drones as the job title may sound like. I am going to be the virtual pilot for the ATC trainees when they run the simulations. I am going to be at this job until I get a class date with the FAA to become a controller. Then I'll be on the other end when running the simulations until I graduate and then get shipped off to some other part of the country when I get my facility assigned to me.
I will be bringing my Staris, which was at the Tampa field that Rich was mentioning, and my new SV-11 that should be done in the next couple days.
I can't believe four years has gone by so quick! I've made countless memories and friends in Daytona and Florida.it was a good ride, but now it's time for the next chapter in life to unfold

Be sure to have fun in the process.

Congratulations, Matt! Seems like just yesterday when you enrolled at ERAU. Go get 'em now!

Congrats Matt! Hope you get posted to the tower at Napa or Oakland, where you can fly stunt all year round AND make a good living. As part of my instrument training I visited the FAA training center for controllers at Oakland, very impressive. I really, really respect what you guys do and we full-scale types owe our lives to you and your professionalism.

Has it been 4 years already? Time flies when you're having fun. Remember Oklahoma City is on a couple of hours from Tulsa with traffic. Really how long will you be there?

Hi Matt, CONGRATULATIONS on having graduated with a great prospect for a fine career and life through your windshield! As time goes by you'll only realize how precious it all is! I've turned around twice and here I am a teenager of 78! Best of luck to you and your family. Keep'um flying!

I'm hoping not longer than two years. I do have plans to head out to Tulsa when I get myself settled in and go flying out there.

By all means, don't go to Oakland Center. They damn near ran me into a mountain during an actual IFR approach into San Jose. Lucky for me, the overcast breaks allowed me to see the top Of Mission Peak, and I was able to change course. I yelled at them pretty good, but got no reply.
