Title: Concemtrate
Post by: Tim Wescott on November 08, 2014, 07:49:45 PM
I've been having some terrible first-flight-of-the-day experiences lately.

This morning after I started up the plane, on my way out to the handle, between one footfall and the next, I thought "hey!".  The rest of the trip out was made slower, with some deep breathing and what the touchy-feely-new age types call "centering".  Then I picked up the handle, closed my eyes, took some deep breaths, LOOKED at the plane, pulled the stooge cord.

And put in nearly the best flight I've ever done.  It wasn't my best flight today, but that just means that I did even better than good on the other ones.

So I guess that my flying has been lacking in enough eye-on-the-ball-ness.

Performances have a large mental aspect to them.  Clearing the mind of things outside "now" and being in the moment definitely can't hurt.

Hi Tim:

You might want to practice the same kind of focusing when you type out your thread titles... (Concemtrate?)  ;D

Later - Bob Hunt

Bob,

Hey man, where have you been!

That's that new word everyone is using.

"Contemplate" or "Concentrate" or "Concemtrate"

Pick one.  n~

Now you have to remember that routine when you go flying each time.   Myself, my first flight is usually my best and I go down hill from there.  I like the new word, so don't go editing the title. mw~

I had to concemtrate to get that 'm' in there -- my internal spell-checker kept trying to replace it with an 'n'.

I have no sense of humor.  I have a lot of beige ties, casual slacks, fancy calculators, a slide rule, and a Historic Transistor collection, but no sense of humor.

Pretty catchy.  Not nearly as objectionable as the oft-misspelled "loose" for "lose" - as in, "If you climb prior to entering the Outside Squares you'll loose [sic] points."

You need to be careful about loosing points upon the world -- them things are sharp!

Yes, but he doesn't wear the bow tie when he flies!

Bow ties are superior to regular neck ties if you wear them when flying -- they won't fall into the prop like a regular tie will.

But if your running the old Cox 1/2a's  when you get a backward run you can just lean in and stop it.

" Concentrate" ?!

It's taken me ten years
to learn how to
"Multi task".

I'll never get the hang of it.
I think I'll take a nap.
