Cute girls with airplanes
« on: October 17, 2007, 06:40:44 PM »
Way too much serious discussion going on here the last few days. Time for a lighter post. Enjoy these pics of my girls with a few models. In order, their names are Mariah (4), Sarah (8 ), and Bailey (14).
My wife refused to have her picture taken with a plane.

Clint,

You just have to be more persuasive.

The kids ARE cute.

Say Clint,

I believe Sarah has the pose down to a fine art. Good looking girls, my friend!

     Ahhhh---refreshing; so nice! :)
Be nice to have some young ladies flying ,for fun , and competing if they really wish to do so.
I am amazed at the young ladies running in quarter midget cars. Some are a little intimidated and some will
 pedal to the metal!   H^^

Really exciting to see young folk getting into the sport. I was pleasantly surprised to see just how excited my 10 yr old granddaughter was when I introduced her to building her model. Got a little simple non-powered model from Black Hawk, and she was just thrilled to actually do something with her hands that after she could hold and fly. She loved the painting, too. Picked her own colors, yellow and white. In a short time she was "flying" the model and could even get it do inverted flight!
My next project is to move her up to 1/A. Got a couple of Delta plane kits from Ray Stone on the way as starters.

Thanks Steve. Yes, Sarah is the little showoff of the three. Loves to be in the spotlight. Bailey is the opposite, had to force her to be in a picture.
You've got a couple of cuties yourself. My wife loved the dresses on those girls.

My two grandaughters have been on here before.  They are Emmy and Willow.  Asked them yesterday if they were going go help me fly again.  Will not tell them their planes will be in the car.  Great looking young ladies holding the planes on this post.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

Two and a half years ago, I built a 1/2 A for my then 5 year old and put a Brodak beam-mounter on it. Her attention span for construction was minimal, as can be expected. After I had assembled it, I then drew it out on a piece of plain white paper appx. full size and told her that she could design the paint scheme. All I can say is, that was more work for me than building the thing. I used every color she picked and every curve or line she drew. This was personal after all! Being a girl, the primary color was PINK, then highlights of yellow, blue, and black. The final task was to name it and of course, put it on the plane. Thus was born "Pinky Yellow Dog", who will go down in memory bank history. I also built her a customized handle. Thank God, it did fly and the farthest she got was 5 laps solo, before I had to take back over. The hurricane got that one, but in two weeks I'm giving her a Baby Flite-Streak for her birthday and we will begin again. We will probably name this one "Yellow Pinky Dog".

At the Ice-O-Lated contest most of the men passed on the flying because of the wind and rain/snow/sleet. Doc's grand daughters both flew. Brave little girls and much cuter than grandpa.

Hey Jim, I think I saw that airplane fly at Texarkana a couple of years ago.  If you are the builder you should know that if you fly it south of the Red River the slogan on the underside of the wing needs to be written in Spanish also. ;) :)! #^ <=

By the way, Great Plane, Great Picture.

Thanks Wayne
Yep the Sooner Special is still around. In fact it flew in Dallas at the fall stunt clinic and contest this OU/Texas weekend(I call the flights "the final humiliation".
It was a wall hangar for two season due to unfavorable football fortunes at the OU/TX games but the planets are back in proper alignment now and I hope it will make more appearances.
I don't speak spanish(or farsi, vietnamese, ebonics, etc.) so I don't have much luck communicating S. of the Red River.
