Do a search on here for mention of Alan's preferred method of finishing a model. It was explained in detail in several of his published articles, but basically it was a coat of thinned epoxy brushed on bare balsa fuselage and iron on covering on flying surfaces. Fairly quick and light method if done correctly. I agree with Balsa Butcher, learn building skills first, then finishing skills. No covering method will hide poor fit and workmanship. Iron on coverings certainly will not hide lumps, bumps and poor fitting parts. A good building job is just a matter of attention to detail and focus. There is an old saying that if you take care of the little details, the big details will take care of themselves. You will get to the point where you really enjoy building because of the satisfaction you will be having once you get to see the outcome of your efforts.
Good luck and have fun!
