Title: Combat Legends
Post by: Randy A. Dailey on September 29, 2016, 08:28:56 PM
Attached you will find a picture taken at the James Mears Combat Memorial Bash. On the left is Riley Wooten holding the Voodoo he designed and I built using Silk for covering. ( I told him he could cover the Super Tigre .35 with his hand, being he is a FOX Man!!!!!!!!)
On the right is Wayne Welch holding the Zipper that he designed and I built using Silk also. The first .35 powered Combat ship I built was the Voodoo powered by a McCoy 35, and I won First place in Combat at Ponca City Oklahoma. The Zipper is the plane that I won the 1966 NATs in senior div. I thank the Lord that after 50 yrs. I still had an original copy of the Zipper that was drawn by the late Norman Barnes. To my knowledge it is the only copy to exist. I have redrawn it to Auto Cad and shipped two Laser Cut sets to Wayne. By the time I arrived in Lubbock TX. he had them ready to cover.
At the Supper Saturday nite I got to see Bob Mears Combat Museum. I took over 75 Pics until my camera battery went dead. His museum is fantastic. He will be adding two planes he didn't have to the collection, the Zipper, and the Spoiler designed by the late Gerald Sanders.
     Sincerely, Randy

PS: Hope to see you folks at Combat Legends Reunion in Tulsa the 8&9 Oct.,

Great photo and post.  It's good to see the legends still around.

Awesome picture randy! The girl in the yellow hat is Kristina. They were pointing at a snake that wandered through the pit area!
