International request
« on: January 25, 2022, 06:28:26 PM »
I received this in my email today.  I cannot help Franco but I'm sure someone here can.  Please contact him directly.

" Hello, I'm Franco and I'm writing to you from Italy.  Looking at your beautiful site I see a photo of your partner who builds a model Sakitumi that I love and that unfortunately I have been looking for some time with no luck.  So my request to you is if you have the possibility to supply/sell the kit or at least the drawing of this wonderful SAKITUMI model.  I have already written to builtrightflyright@builtrightflyright.com but unfortunately are temporarily closed due to illness.
In the hope of your positive response, I thank you in advance and greet you warmly."

The only suggestion I have, that I unfortunately can not help with, is to sell/send the cut files to this gentleman or send them to some one of his choice t cut his kit. The international shipping situation is just ridiculous. he may have to supply his own balsa, but at least he can get his kit. maybe it's a way for Walter and the other kit makers to expand overseas  to expand overseas more easily. It's obvious there are some that are hungry for this stuff.

Dan.  You are right about shipping, both domestic and international.  Our friends at the Post Office have decided to charge Amazon and those others next to nothing for their shipping.  To make up for the loss, they charge people like me an outrageous amount, such that any sort of shipment is out of the question.

I tried the address but evidently that is not an email address. Did Franco provide something that is clearly an email? Or is it maybe just the part before the "www?" I have built several Sakitumi and can probably help him get plans or even a laser cutting program. Having the laser cut ribs would be a big help but of course not strictly necessary.

Yeah Mike try without the www.  It came to me without.  Not sure why he wrote it that way.

Gentlemen,

I suspect there was some concatenation of the man's contact info. I don't use WhatsApp, so I can only guess the App is used via a very-phone number looking account,.since it may have been registered to a phone at creation time.

It most likely needs to be broken out like so:

francogarzonio@bwavio.com
www.bwavio.com
mobile +39 348.4632252
WhatsApp +39 351.9294883

BWavio.com is the domain name.
BW@BWavio.com may be the owner, or website admin, since it is displayed on the website above.

I suspect Mr.Franco Garzonio is an employee, so I would respond to the email address as I broke it out above, first.
39 is the country code for Italy, and is required for International dialing. The plus symbol is the indicator that this is a country code, followed by 3-digit area code, followed by 3-digit exchange (or metro area) code, followed by local extension. European numbers are typically dialed using all ten digits within the country.

This is why we see 01 (well, really just "1") since we are within our own country) in front of domestic long distance calls. If you ever travel Internationally, you dial the 01 to reach USA phone numbers.

Since the cut files are proprietary to the designer, and his cutting machine, it may be generous of the designer to convert the code back to PDF for "export." Of course, this exposes the plansheet to obvious regeneration back to cut files by a skilled AutoCad guy. But at least our Italian "friend" can begin with just the PDF and hand-cut at a minimum.

Just my 2¢ for the sake of attempted clarification.

I reached Franco by email and got a reply. He lives near Milan in far northern Italy. I can arrange a set of plans for him, and a set of laser-cut ribs, so I think we are good. Thanks everyone who helped figure out the mystery of international email (at least to me).

That is good news as I made it out to the shop today and found a short kit of the 40 size Sakittumi with laser cut parts.  Don't remember getting it. D>K

Hi John, If you do have a short kit you could not have gotten it from me as I have never made short kits.
The closest thing other than full kits were replacement parts for crashed models
Thank you and God Bless

It is not an Umland kit unless the guy got it from Walter.  I got it off the EBAY.  The label says from Zito,  Las Vegas, NV. D>K
