Just be glad you didnt have to get three stitches. I learned my lesson just how sharp #11 blades are a few months ago.

The work looks great. In fact it looks like you could teach some of us old guys a thing or two about building.
Yeah xacto knoves cut eaisly and deeply...most of us have many scars gained over the years from saying OOOPPPPPPS. Just don't get too much blood on the airplane it's hard to cover up with dope...

Just kidding, of course...I know it hurts. Just keep it clean and it'll heal very fast! A little Neosporin helps also...I keep a tube in the shop...just don't mix it up with the CA!

Looks like we're going to see great things from you young lady. Keep it up!

We had to stop and get a bandage, and I had to hear about it for a hour. I hated to tell her when she was done that she had two wing tips to do.

tempest will have a PA40 merlin and a bob hunt wing

worked for 3 hrs tonight got the fuse sides dont and the doublers on for the tempest. And if my dads eye feels good after surgery we will finish the fuse tomorrow

Now I am no doctor and I am not giving any advice. What I do for all cuts is use CA seeing as that is what it was designed for. One year at SIG I reached into my tool box and slit my finger wide open on a knife I had in there. I had no CA handy so I went to the trailer and asked the girl for some thin set. I had Frank put it on my finger as I held it together. It would not stop bleeding. So we hit it with kicker, it smoked and burned but it stopped bleeding and I have no scar at all. With as deep as I cut it, I really needed stitches probably 3 or 4 but the CA did the job. Disclaimer "Do not try this trick at home".

It sounds a bit macabre but Sparky is correct. CA was originally invented as a field-expedient alternative to stiching up Soldiers in Vietnam. Still used in my unit today in Afghanistan to seal up papercuts and the aforementioned incursions with #11 blades

Hey Samantha, it was great to see you & Steve at "the show". The cut you get carving is to be expected, BUT, try your best to avoid those installed by the props!!!!! (Don't ask me how I know about those.)

Your new model looks like it's coming along great, Samantha. When carving, the thing to remember is to take your time, keep your knives and gouges sharp, and never ever text while carving!

Your new plane looks great Sam! Sorry you got a boo boo. Hey, we've all been there... all too often. Bob Storick is correct; CA does close minor wounds very effectively; just don't spray any kicker on it when you put it on a cut. Then you'll have a burn too!

I used to work for a company that sold CA glue. Some of our biggest customers were funeral homes. They glued parts back on and closed up gaping wounds with the stuff. Gory, I know, but a true story.

Hey John, just don't push it. My family don't push the airplane stuff either. It is something that keeps me out of their way. It was fun though when the granddaughter went to club meeting last year and then asked to fly the plane. That was the second time she had soloed. Then opening day of the races the grandson asked if he could go. Do you like funnel cake. Well time for Church.

Yeah we'll, my dad was watching windy flying on a tape and I said I wanted to do it. It's like RC I will not fly it and if my dad keeps on bugging me I'll just say no,no,no,no. But he don't cause he know I don't like it. If she likes it she will fly when she wants too. Many girls don't want to do it.

You can get the glue of your fingers with your teeth . you get the glue of your teeth with your tounge . But you have to be carefull not to then get it on your lips , if you do , breath with your mouth open till it dries .

Can't say I blame her. I was a flyer and not a builder when I was a kid. I couldn't tell you why, even today. Though these days, it's half the fun!

Last game last Thursday they came from 6 points down to win by 1. They had to hold them in the last inning to no runs. The place went crazy. I'm for anything that keeps them busy and away from the bad crowd.

Like video games. I got so many kids in my charge that have no social skills due to growing up in front of the TV....

John we started slow, she liked to paint, that was first. Then she like to put on silk span. Then she built a 15 herself last year for brodak. I would get her to help here and there. She started to like building a lot better as time went on. We have a long winter here so there is a lot of time. The big thing is there is no horse around, that would put a hurt in the building. She did dance for years, and now its track, this will take up a little time. Everything she gets to do is based on her grades at school. She now has a 4.0 so it is costing me a lot of money.

Like I tell everyone She wanted to fly control line. I flew RC, I flew cox back in the day, but hat was it. I was on the handle the first time and after that she was on her own. She has got a lot of help from so many people. I hope she stays with it, the people in CL is what makes this great.

The CA you use to glue models together is NOT the same CA you glue people together with! It was designed to glue B-36s together, not battlefield injuries!!

If you want to glue appalling injuries back together, keep some Dermabond around. The chemistry of the glues is different, and you also don't know what impurities/additives are in hobby CA.

A final unsolicited 2 cents. I found that my xacto curved hollowing bits were nowhere near the quality or sharpness of old tools my Dad had. That convinced me to go back to the dremel/sanding drum hollowing technique. I end up holding a mag lite flashlight between my knees and dremel the block over the beam so I can watch how thin I am getting the block. This gets me decent hollowing without painful injuries from the not very sharp exacto bit slipping from being forced too hard.
