I am an old timer returning to CL (grew up in the 70's with HOT ROCK handles) and cant find a handle that excites me like one that I purchased from BOB HUNT at a REBEL RALLY in Jax. Fla. If memory serves me correct it was in flight adjustable, black closed cell foam with C.M.P. on it. ANYONE have a leed on one or a comparable handle? THANKS Glenn

I loved the Hunt handles, have a few but the overhang and non adjustable line spacing are what made them go out of favor..
Try this one...

Or, you could get completely out of control like me.

Randy,
Have you still got that thing? I remember picking it up at one contest and had to go the hospital the next day for a hernia operation. The thing must weigh 20 pounds, but boy was it pretty.

I am with Dick Byron here on his advise to go to Mike Scott for a handle. I buy the hardware as I like to make the handle part myself to fit me. The handle as it comes just does not fit 'me'. Many are using them as they come. The hardware is totally adjustable in every direction you need. Overhang, spacing and neutral. I have not had one wear out and I have thousands of flights on mine.
Money well spent and Mike is one of the good guys!

Guys, I gotta go with Bob Reeves on the handle thing. I'm maybe prejudice because I designed the handle Bill sells, but it's light, fully adjustable, and the line spacing feature ads a touch of hangover as they go closer to re-establish feel. Plus, Bill deliberately leaves them with no finish so you can tweak the feel to fit your own hand. I designed this in 1989, did improvements for three years and think it's unbeatable.

Alan,
Not the same one. Rosewood was WAY too heavy. This one weighs about 6oz (on my digital scale). The wood is African Baywood. Sort of like really hard balsa. Fits my hand pretty well.

Will,
I fell in love with your handle because I really like the in-flight neutral adjustment.. Same reason I liked the Hunt handles. Also you have taken care of the spacing and overhang issues with the Hunt handle. Have two of your handles one always goes on any new airplane. Once I am sure I have all the adjustments right for that airplane/lines I duplicate it with a hard point handle.
Good job, thanks for a great design...
-
Thanks for the kind comments, Bob, I feel so blessed that Bill decided to start building them when I tired of "no airplane time" because of them and then he did such a fantastic job of manufacturing them. He's good.
Blue skies, light winds, and tight lines my friend.

I now have two of Richard's handles and one of Bill's. Like all of them. DOC Holliday

I also recommend the Mike Scott handles, originally designed by Dick Byron.
Mike makes my handles without the finger notches, so it fits my hand better. It then has that "Ezjust" feel.
Mike is adding some of ideas to the handles also. The finish he applies is also super.
I also have them available.

HI Glenn,
Check Tommy Luper, Phillip Bailey, Clayton Smith, Terry Mc Dowell, Larry Draughn, or the other guys from W-S/Hobby Park..... They might have one in their stash that they could part with. Since everyone has basically switched to the Byron, Edom, Manato, Brodak, Fancher, etc., handles, the Hunt Handles just are not as widely used.
I can't really pick a preference over the various styles. One thing I have found is that a different handle seems to make a difference in the way the plane reacts.

The knockoff EZ Just done in wood, available through Brodak. Fancher. Or small plastic combat handles to tame a twitchy bird.

Glenn, I can only speak for me, I dont have any extra Kaz handles, and I know the only one at Winston-Salem using them are myself, Tommy, and Larry, but you can go to Kaz s websight and shoot him an E mail.

Hi Jim,
We were referring to the old CSC handles made by Bob Hunt. Large Black handles with long arms. ;D
I wasn't referring to the Kaz handles.............. Don't know if Randy has gotten any more lately. ??? ??? We got a few from him.
I have to get back up to Hobby Park soon. Tommy just told me too many horror stories about the bike riders coming out of the woods into the circle! They were even doing that the last time I was there. That and the bad tree branches on the good circle........ ;D

I wonder if the guy that paid $71.00 for an EZjust handle would like to have a nice Ringmaster to go with the handle? I've got one with a Fox .35 on it I could let him have for a cool $500.00. I would even throw in a set of "slightly" used lines. What a bargin, huh?

Ive been watching these ez just handles on ebay for two months..since I threw my old one away 30 yrs ago when I got out of u control..now got back into it....one guy has gobbling these things up on every occasion..incredible!!....got to admit, that handle was the perfect weight, feel, etc...I recently bought the latest Sullivan replacement, cheap..7.00..remake of it, and its junk..might have to step up to the plate and ebay one..oh well HB~> HB~> HB~>

Good grief, 71 bucks when you can get the same thing from Brodak in wood for 20 bucks.

I haven't seen any mention of it here but I began wrapping my handles with tennis racket grip tape. I saw a fair number of experienced pilots at Brodak's Fly In that did that so I thought I would give it a try.
I like it. Provides a cushioned grip and doesn't get slick with sweat. Wouldn't work well on handles with finger notches but otherwise I think it's an improvement over plastic and varnished wooden handles. The wrap is available at most sporting goods stores and costs about $7.00 for a package that contains enough wrap for several handles.

Forget the bay and contact Mike Stott who is now producing Richard Byron's handles. They are worth every dollar spent on them. I just need to convince the wife I need several more of them. The alternative, and a good one is the Fancher Handle from Carl Shoupe. I think both are in the classifieds. DOC Holliday
