C/L Flyers in South Carolina
« on: November 28, 2006, 06:48:09 AM »
My home in Manning is almost complete and I would like to correspond with any flyers in South Carolina.  y1 y1

Please contact me and let me know where you are in the state or anywhere close by.

My home is just off 301, about 1.8 miles east of interstate 95.

Bob,

two notable stunt guys from South Carolina are Dave Hemstrought and
Stan Powell. These guys are both good guys and good friends.
Dave lives down 1-95 in the Summerville area near Charleston and is
probably closet to you. Stan lives west on I-20 in the Spartanburg area.
I imagine you can get contact info on both of them from PAMPA.
I don't know how active Stan and Dave are but they still make contests so give
them a call.

Looking at a map it might be a fairly long drive to Spartanburg so
actually it might be closer for you to take I-20 west and I-77 north to meet up
with my club the "Metrolina Control Line Society". We have members from all
over the region including Watt Moore and the Rock Hill, SC guys and lots of
North Carolina guys including Bill Little, Larry Draughn and etc.

I would like to welcome you to the region and look forward to meeting you
and hopefully learn from your 4-stroke expertise.

Hi, Pat - thank you for the welcome.

I know Larry as I've flown with him at the Brodak Fly-In.
Also, Kent Tysor is a close friend of mine.

I'll be up your way quite a bit.

Hi Bob,

Larry and Kent live about 45 minutes from me.  Haven't been to Manning in years, but welcome to the area!

The Huntersville site (MCLS) is one of only two C/L sites I know that remain in NC/SC.  The other is Hobby Park in Winston-Salem.  Of course, both share park space with R/C but they do have "dedicated" circles.

Hi Bob,

I live in Lexington, SC and fly at the local high school.  There are three or four of us who usually fly there.  We are a good bit closer than the Metrolina folks.  Occasionally Bill Medders from Orangeburg comes up to fly with us.  Looking forward to meeting and flying with you somewhere in the state.

As you probably know, the Metrolina folks put on 2 great contests each year.  I usually go and take some pictures and enjoy myself.  Finally got a nice digital camera so I can share the pictures easily.
