CL flying is now included at the Joe Nall fly-in in May. See Allen Goff's post in the Events section.

There seems to be a trend toward including CL at RC events. I kinda think we should have an RC section here at Stunthanger. It would help to keep us out of the back alleys and seedy joints of other forums hunting for build threads etc.

What day will they have Control Line flying ? , I live close to the event and always enjoy attending

Will:
I believe it will be every day of the event. It runs from May 12th thru the 19th. Go to www.joenall.com for all the pertinent info. I plan on being there Wed thru Sat, flying CL and elec RC.
Hope to see you there.

There will be 3 circles available to fly on. Well 2 for us and one to let anyone who wants to give control line a try. Dad and I have both flown noon demos there but this is a BIG DEAL. There are thousands of people from all over the world that come to this event. Some of the top ranked RC pilots are there doing their thing. I will be there for as many days as I can get off and Dad is usually there Thursday and Friday.
Tons of good food, flying, and fellowship. I went for the first time last year as was completely blown away. I am also talking to Noel about getting any extra Stunt News magazines, I will print out a bunch of PAMPA membership forms too and hand them out to people interested in control line.
William, hope to see you there I was going to send you an email about it but it made it to the forum too fast.

I plan on being there a couple of days and maybe Roger Wildman too. Probably the 13th and 14th. Lets all get together and have a great time.

That is only 90 miles from my home but it is almost in my daughter's back yard. I have never been there.

Bill:
The site is the Triple Tree Aerodrome (private airport) and is located near Woodruff, SC at 330 Mary Hanna Rd.
I will be there, along with a couple of friends, from Sunday thru Thursday, maybe Friday. Planning on bringing a Barnstormer and a Slob. Gotta build a new Slob. My old one is too ratty looking to bring out in public.
Come join the festivities.

Hi Bill,
I would dearly love to come to the event. I have been to Woodruff, many years ago.
Just all depends on fast I recover from the chemo. Short enough of a trip for me to make it down!

Any one that has been in modeling and RC has heard of the KCRC group. One of the older radio groups in the country. The last couple of years they have set a day aside so we can go fly control line at the field. I was told the Helicoptor pad is also used for CL flying as long as people get a permit from the Park Department. Must have AMA license. H^^

Who plans to attend, appears to be getting alot of press

There was a lot of talk about this at the Lebanon PA swap meet this past weekend. Sounds like a lot of people and manufacturers stepped up to support the control line community. If someone has a complete list of those who helped make this happen they should be recognized. y1
Wish I could make it. I look forward to hearing how control line is received at Joe Nall.

Mark Weiss is the guy responsible for talking to Pat Hartness about control line at Joe Nall. Pat said it was a great idea and volunteered Mark to run the control line circles. As soon as I heard about this I got in touch with Mark and offered to help in any way I could. I will be there Sat, Sun, and hopefully Minday and Tuesday.
The Sweeper will be there too!!!!!!

I spoke to Mark at Lebanon, he is a very nice guy. It's a big undertaking to start an event like this from scratch. From what he told us it sounds like he is doing a pretty good job.
The Sweeper will be a great edition! I know a lot of RC guys still think control line is flown on string or 1/2A only. To see something like the sweeper will shake them up a bit. ;D

Wait 'til they see your 'Bardahl' P-51. THAT should wake 'em up! Hope you're taking it.

Paul Walkers B-17 would certainly create an impression.

That really sounds great. As an old CLer that still loves CL but just too much to take care of to really be involved in 10% of all the aeromodeling swirling through the head, it is wonderful to hear of CL again becoming what it always should have been, and really has always been by those in the know! y1
Just a thought on my part is that nice looking CL of the .15 to .40 engine sizes will attract more interest because those not familiar with CL will be more prone to think, "I can do that." I say that because the IMAC/3D monster RC world, while very impressive, IMO, turns more potential newbies away from organized aeromodeling than it brings into the activity. Today's younger ( guessing under 50 years age) just don't seem to be as aggressive as folks were when I was young.
Still it is very much good news to hear that some of the Leader folks are getting this upfront addition to a most delightful sport such as flying CL model airplanes as a hobby, a sport, and very educational activity.

Hi Guys,
I am the one who asked Pat Hartness to include circles this year. I thought it would be good for aeromodelling in general and great for CL. I know I am not the first to be involved with Pat and this event for Derek had already put on demos. I was just the one who asked to make it a part of the event and agree to Pat's request for I oversee the effort and be willing to stay for the entire week and to bring him a special hybrid plane: an CL plane tethered on a pylon and controlled from outside the circle by radio control. That hybrid is on my workbunch nearly in the bones.
SInce November when Pat and I spoke and made the agreement, I have been "begging" manufacturers for supplied so we could offer the RC guys handle time with a bunch of trainers. I have been very fortunate and found some wonderful companies out there. As you do not know my name, I am looking for all the help I can get. First, I want to help make sure that everyone has a great time. Secondly, I am always looking for folks who may be able to help with circle #1. I thought that circle should have daily time set aside for beginners and flight demos. Derek and Allen have agreed to help along with others whose names you would immedaitely know. I am not the flyer many of you are and I am open for all suggestions. The two other circles will be for open flying every day.
I would love to hear from you. The circles will be availabe the entire week, May 12 - May 19. The way we (some of my input with the Nall volunteers execution) have designed the area, there will be room for strung out handles and lines as well as onsite parking and room for tents. For those of you who have not yet been to the Nall, the property is 10,000 feet from from entrane to rear boundary. Havng on site partking is huge. Someone asked if they could fly some combat demos. YES. THe more variety, the more interesting it will be for the RC community.
Thanks, Mark 302-547-4917...Wilmington, DE
