John Grigsby's super cool aerobatic jet
« on: May 05, 2007, 07:17:50 AM »
After putting in a few flights with the new Lark last Sunday, my son Jake and I drove up to the North
Dallas RC field to watch John Grigsby wow 'em with his jet. The plane is called the Boomerang and it
is fully aerobatic. John and I actually built one from the old wood and foam core kit back in 2003, you
can see that plane at: www.egpworld.com/ultrahobby. This plane is the newer fibeglass ARF version.
And, boy is it sweet.

John was putting on quite a show doing stalls, flat spins, inverted flat spins, inverted flight with outside
turns, split S turns, high speed passes, and much more. The plane has a 97" span and is 93" long. It has
a symmetrical airfoil and is totally aerobatic, quite unusual for a jet. It uses a 35 lb. thrust Digitech
engine and weighs 29 lbs. It has retracts, brakes, flaps and the pilots head is connected to a servo coupled
with the rudder so that his head turns when the rudder is used. Pretty cool.  Later, Steve
