I recently placed an order with Brodak and Santa dressed in a brown suit and driving a brown sled delivered it. Hey is wasn't a huge order, it was just over $200.00 but enough the restock some bins and replace some props I lost over the summer. As I unpacked "my gift" I asked myself so what will become of all this stuff and those birds perched on their storage racks. I asked myself does it really matter what happens tomorrow? A fellow old timer flyer once said to me, I enjoy my planes and once I'm gone I don't care what happens to it all, they can throw in in a dumpster for all I will care.
My point here is don't be afraid to splurge on yourself occasionally and be sure you have the the correct address for your "North Pole"...Carmichaels, PA. And more importantly keep buying from Brodak so they can afford to pay their elves. Remember the folks at the real North Pole won't know what a bellcrank from a shoehorn.

Hiya Steve
I was touched by the sentiments in your message. I have penned a small ditty based on some of that sentiment - I hope I haven't stolen your thunder.
Old Circle Masters
Life moves as quickly as the wind in the trees on the edge of the flying field
Fragments of memories ride away on the clouds as the seasons have made us yield
Our laughter through the years, cheers, shouts and tears
Have all drifted away like free-flights astray
And the kids we once knew when we were young and few
All but gone, yet still remain
We have lived our lives, raised families, careers and built our hives
Those kids are still here- fewer in flesh, some in our hearts held dear
Those boys to men and men to boys , the apparent difference ? the cost of their toys
But if we cock our head and look deeper we see our life and it's keeper
Through good times and bad - oh the fun that we've had
Looping the loop and chewing the fat, man that's where it's at
And when the toys are put away, the glow plugs dull at the end of the day
We push ourselves into the hangar to sleep and dream as the sky turns grey
But when the next morning comes around-like the kids we once were with energy abound
We grab our model, fuel and lines and can hardly wait to go round and round
Help calm the horses in this world of strife, grab that handle and hang on for dear life
And when we have landed for the final time, we'd do it all again , we'd turn on a dime

Very good John, think I'll make a copy a tuck it away. Who knows. maybe someone would feel it fitting to read it aloud when I finally touch down for my last time.

Steve,
You make a very good point. I have wonder about this too and don't have a good answer. I'd like to think that before I get to the point of not being able to move stuff out that I could find a home for my stuff so someone would enjoy it not just toss it in the trash.

Well the old DOC after a couple of scares has decided I don't need to worry about my stuff right now. And when the good LORD decides he is done caring me and takes me to the eternality place I won't have to worry about it as it will be up to those left behind to disperse with all of it. I tried to tell the wife and son to get used to the bay and list stuff so the postage and shipping doesn't come out of their pocket. I did think about asking if any body wanted to message me and come by they might go home with some planes ready to fly, of course some need a little tcl. Same with engines and parts. D>K

We must consider if we are fortunate to have another 10 years (those of us in our 70s) of "flyable" time, hopefully we live beyond, what will the sport be like at that time. Will the dwindling participation have resulted in all the suppliers going away including Brodak, who knows? Where will our treasures go and to whom? Is my wife or kids going to create a for sale of free post on Stunthanger or Ebay, they have no idea what's in the cabinets. The friends I fly with are my age, they will be in the same boat. You can't donate our stuff to the closest RC club, they wont take it. It's pretty clear what's taking place, so for now go fly and enjoy the time left. Maybe even get a little more "cocky" in the circle after all you can't take it with you.
