A friend and I are thinking about building one of these. We thought we would use bolts instead of the pins. Drill the holes then tap them. Bring the bolt up from the bottom. Mount the apparatus in a vice. Then one could add more holes for making elevator horns, and for making split horns for a Paul Walker’s adjustable flap system.
What do you think?
Vise-mounted = a good idea.
More holes = more adjustable = better.
Pins = better than bolts (bolt threads could damage the wire or the wire could damage the threads either is not good)
Solutions/suggestions: Bushings to protect threads (bolts from the bottom) or Shoulder bolts from the top.
Of course part of the apparatus, maybe the handle of the bending lever, should be
wrapped in copper wire and 5-minute epoxy to make it
relevant to this topic LOL.
