Hi Paul,
Yeah, I mentioned it in the thread on the Southwest Regionals Championships.
He flew very well with a profile modified pathfinder...electric of course. He scored 539 with no appearance points in the first round. I dodn't remember what his second round score was but I'm sure it was at least that and probably more.
Certainly no contest jitters for this guy, he's done it all many times. He's very serious and knows what he needs now is a serious airplane and he's taking care of that with a Crossfire.
He's on his way...but it's a long rocky road.
I only know who won and where I finished...which is Brett Buck (won-594) and 6th place (Me-555). Didn't see the final score board, but suspect that Bob Whitely was second.

Around here that's a respectable score for Expert. It doesn't get you out of the pack, but no one wonders why you're not flying Advanced (particularly if you didn't get appearance points).
For a first contest -- that's kewl.

Thanks Randy for the info.
And if I understand correctly Chip has not been flying CL very long. Less then a year?
That's great that he is already flying expert. He will be one to watch for sure. ;D

He flew very well, particularly for a first contest, but there are always jitters. I get them, even in local contests. The trick is knowing how to deal with them.

Actually a little less than 6 months.

Of course you're right Brett. What I really meant was he was cool throughout the contest...which means that he appeared unaffected by the jitters.
I think in the beginning he was a little worried about being accepted by the Control Line community. I think that has passed now.

You turn them into towering awesomeness.
