World Champs Results
« on: July 29, 2008, 09:11:03 AM »
For those that want to keep track, the official web site is: http://f2cmbl.org/index.php?lang=en

This is the english language version. Official practice today with the first round starting tomorrow. The list of competitors is quite interesting. A flier from Mongolia? Wow! What happened to the Berringers?

Howard perhaps chose "WHAT, ME WORRY'S" web site due to his knowledge of using their photo finda' hardware that he seems more comfortable with for some reason...Habit?

I like this site (SH) a lot and tend to post here, but I see no reason to say dumb things about SSW  n1. And I have some issues with SSW (time to time)  HB~>.

My guess (and it is only a guess) is that Howard R. is use to posting on SSW.

Alan,

No "dumb" things. And I certainly have nothing again SSW. I spend time there also. I mostly post pictures here because you can get a higher level of picture quality without the 50K restriction that Len's site has to use. But it's not a comment on the quality of his site, or this one. That Howard, or anyone else for that matter, would prefer to post at SSW is not an issue with me. I doubt it's an issue with anyone. We were just poking a little fun at Howard. He's a big boy, he can take it.

Randy,

Oh, my comment wasn't directed at you or at Howard. I should have used the "quote" function on Schultzies' comments.

And I agree that Howard can take it!

And honest, I don't imagine myself as the "mom" of this Forum. But sometimes gratuitous negativity wears on me!

From what I recall during my recent visit, there have been some modifications to this site.  The 4 main circles shown on the bottom of the picture were being used for (from L-R) racing, stunt, stunt practice and speed.  Directly in front of the racing and stunt circle (you can see the center is paved) was another stunt circle.  The area in front of the three circles on the right was pretty much open except for some campers that were packed in along the edge of the road that is shown some additional vehicles, a few vendors and a covered pit area for the stunt airplanes.  The pit area in front of the paved stunt circle points in the direction of where there was new circle set up for the F2D action with another circle to it's side for the pilots to go to after their match was over.    I saw some combat pilots testing their equipment in the same general area, but the field was not in very good shape.  So the current number of circles available on that site is 8.  Not too bad.  The open area in the center of the picture, to the right, now contains a parking area and the startings of a new building so no flying over there. The F2B guys were allowed to fly at a soccer field about 8 miles away, but I did not get where the F2D guys were given as an alternate site to work with their equipment.  I wish I could have stayed longer and taken some more pictures.

Uh, I don't think that's the issue, it was working at least as well as the electric last I saw. I suspect some very bad weather issues, or the screw of the century. That's a missing maneuver type score.

Brett,

Yea, that's what I suspect. I imagine, from weather reports I've been seeing, that he got a very bad draw. Rain, thunder, but not bad temps.

Edit

Well, I just saw what Claudio posted on the other site:

Yes. His engine stopped with three maneuvers left to finish the flight.

Claudio.

So, there you go. Darned IC enigines, anyway.

Gotta remember guys. I.C. motors have been working well for Paul for the last, lets, see 40 years Lol. Could have been a bird strike, snapped line, prop disintegrating, jealous boyfriend,(not sure about that one, I think Brett is more of the ladies man-you know those Rocket Scientist). That said, I am tracking Han Zinping.

Sorry about not posting here, too.  I'm more familiar with the other board and don't have much time.

I saw Han fly Thursday.  I was standing directly downwind.  He may have used me as an intersection reference.  I couldn't see his shapes very well, but his intersections and bottoms were excellent.  I had seen him practice earlier in the week, and noticed the lack of roundness in the round maneuvers that I'd seen at past WC.

We noticed the Chinese putting the remains of a stunt plane in the trash can last evening.  Looking at the scores, I would guess that it was the junior's.  Too bad.
