Cheezehead Fly-in
« on: September 20, 2014, 10:22:03 PM »
Well Paul, we will try to fly Sunday at the Senior Center in Bristol Wisconsin, weather permitting. For those of you that don't know, Paul Taylor started the Cheezehead fly-in I think in 2006. He came up here to Wisconsin and emailed to see if anyone in the Kenosha Wi. area flew control line. I answered that email and Paul and his son Ryan and I were the first ones to fly in the fly-in Paul named the Cheezehead. We flew at Paul's father-in laws farm and it just grew over the years. This will be the first one that Paul will not make and he will be sorely missed. I have watched Paul over the years become a better and better pilot as many of you in his area know. I think we should rename this the Paul Taylor Cheezehead fly-in because you were so instrumental in getting us all together. We'll all be thinking about you tomorrow, our good flying buddy.

Joe

Hey Joe!
That's great new that the Cheezehead will go on without me. It would have be just me and Ryan if you had not shown up.
We will be up for a very shot time next month and hope to catch up with a few of you.

I will be waiting for pictures to show up here. ;D

Bummer😞
I tried to do a search on SSW. Search is not to good on the site but found this thread where Chris showed up in 2005 so I think Joe and I met in 2004.

Well Cheezehead 2014 is in the bag. We fought the wind all day today but it was a success. The people that did come had a good time. I did not realize when I made this date in September that we would be competing with Packer fans for an audience. Next year I will make before football season or if it is in the fall, it will be on a Saturday. Some Bi-Slob flights by Dave Siegler and Chris Sterner were a big hit with the audience. Lots of OOHS and AAHS.

Way to go Joe.
Glad you guys got out.
I hope Chris will post some pictures.

Was neat going on a virtual flight with Chris. I could hear the FP 40 and the wind while he was flying.

We had a reporter from a local news source cover the event.

She took some nice pictures
