Title: Cheezehead 2008
Post by: Paul Taylor on July 27, 2008, 05:38:32 PM
I found a weak wireless connection from someone across the street. Not sure how long I will be able to mooch of the neighbor.
Cheezehead 2008 - Well another one is in the books.

We had a fun day. The weather was nice, a little windy. But flyable. If you wait for the wind to die off here you will be waiting for awhile. We did not have any real major losses today. We tried to get Joe's grandson up on Ryans Buster Trainer. It is now a Busted up Buster. He was able to get some solo handle time before the terra ferma grabbed the plane.
Chris offered to let me fly his Vector, but I told him I would wait on mine. #^ Chris flys his Vector very well.

Joe brought out his Naakie. A very nice plane. The paint was still gassing out so he did not fly it. Bob had his SkyRay with a newly covered wing. Flys nice but needs to get rid of that Fox burp.
We tried to fly 3 up, but Chris had a little trouble with the wind and his Frankin ship. Ryan and I were able to fly two up.
Any way I will post this one photo and will add more once I have time to sort thru them.

Was a great day,  But I forgot my camera :( so send pictures!

My wife said "You smell like Castor oil, OFF and sweat, must have been a good day."  Ineeded a hot shower and a cold beer when I got home.

The Real cool part was seeing the P51's (real ones) going in and out of Kenosha airport. We were 5-6 miles SW of the airport, and right under the flight path. There is at least one '51 (Steve Bolander) local to that field and they meet down there to practice for Oshkosh.  Also a UPF7 flew right over the circle, as did the guy with all (Greenhill? )the Grumman flying boats he has a Goose, Mallard, Wigeon and an award winning Duck.

It wasn't windy enough to keep the blood suckers away, and they were bad.  More blood suckers than an IRS aduit.  The buildings, trees and corn made an interesting wind pattern.

The Brats and all the fixings were great especially the home grown tomatoes.

Best Save:  Ryan's Slob did a 1/4 roll inward and he saved it.
Second best:  Ryan avoided a Case tractor that roamed into the circle.
Honorable mention:  Chris bounced my slob on its tail, then on gear then flew it off as nothing had happened.

Worst thing (except mosquitoes)  I have to learn to run an engine with a bladder, I still struggle with it.  WEay too slow starting up.

Can't wait for the pics and video

Yea Dave almost wondered into the corn with his combat plane. We only had about six feet clearence on one side of the corn field. Made it interesting.

Next year we need to get Dave and Ryan's go two up with the bi-slobs. <=

Videos and pictures will be edited tomorrow.

The best thing for me was having 3 of my kids come and watch us fly and meet all the great people I have been telling them about. Chris and I agree that we have to build some Bi-Slobs too. Chris never flew one before, but when he flew Dave's, he looked like he had been flying it all along. Thanks to all who made this a great day.
