CF Forked Bellcrank Version 7
« on: July 08, 2017, 09:46:41 AM »
This is the seventh version of a carbon fiber bellcrank I have been working on.After posting pics of several others and taking the suggestions of my fellow C/L modellers I think I may have a version that covers all the bases. It has 4" spacing and the throw is undrilled to allow for that favorite dimension. The forked ends are canted in at 45 degrees so even at full throw there is no binding. These will have FAA certified AN392 clevis pins instead of bolts to save weight and have a much lower profile.Mounts on a piece of 1/8" music wire.Needless to say they are very strong and virtually indestructable for our needs.I will post a second pic to show 45 degrees of throw

Hi Jim,I forgot the important part. The bellcrank came in at 12.5 gr.I am still waiting on the hardware I ordered so I can weigh it to get a final weight. These will be priced at $25.Not a bad price for insurance on a $700 powertrain and 500 hrs of work.

Jeff's work on these and other things he has done is immaculate.  'Course, it doesn't play tunes, but that's okay.  (His guitars do.)

I see no boss for the pushrod attach point?

The problem with electric is that once you get the smoke generator and sound system installed, the plane is too heavy.

Can we name it the Batman bellcrank or the Batcrank? Riddle me this, could it be made thicker at the pivot? Holy carbon fiber Robin, I don't think he'll do it.

That is left to the individual user.I had requests for 3/4",7/8ths",1".Easy enough to drill and sleeve if needed.

NO!!When properly mounted there should be very little to no stress that requires it to be any thicker.Sorry to have to point out thickness adds weight!!!
