Hope to put running/potable water and shade/shed in during the fall.

That is a plan.
Might be awhile as there are about zero C/L fliers local.
More than several around but R/C is the buzz toy of the day.
Enough to support 2 fields and 2 clubs!

Trying to get Dad involved again and to get his CD lic back--kind of ornery at 73 and spend most of his energy(and mine ) racing.

Another clubs help might be a solution.

Time will tell and we shall see is the word for now!

In the mean time every one is welcome!

That where I grew up Flying!
In city park.
My Grand father built it on land from the city when my dad kept getting run of from flying on ball fields.
I lived about 2-3 blocks away by the hospital.

 Remember Smitty's hobby shop?

68--had a green monokote flight streak and possibly my 1st VooDoo.

Saber jet on display stand and a tank across the street.
Nice shade trees.

 In 1980 lost the circles to tennis courts----
claimed need for more room as it was a growing sport, wasn't used for close to 10 years.

I think the Hippie bands across the street in playing in the pavilion at the swing park were bother by the noise.

Hell--we could hear Jimmy Hendrix, Its a Beautiful Day, The Doors , Savoy Brown, JA and...... just fine out of the back doors of Tommy Os Black Corvair van while we flew.
Even had our girl friends flying a Magician--Hey they claimed it as theirs so we didn't argue!
Loud Rock and Loud combat--we had it made!

Talk about luck!
Murphy on the loose!

Backed up from the run way to do maneuvers down wind.
Flying inverted and found Charlie Browns kite eating tree with the Shoestring.
Killed the engine broke out board tip.Glided 3/4 lap, knocked limb out of tree.
To save the nice canopy paint nosed it in from about ft high and popped rear of fuse off!
The tree will be executed by D-6 tomorow as punishment.

The Smoothie ran away with a peaked out run and shed the covering on the inboard top wing.
flew it low till ran out of fuel. no other damage.
Damned thing made me dizzy!
Will replace 25 year old El cheapo iron on plastic with monokote.

Chipmunk went off rich and flying with out board wing down (with no visible warp?)
Tail wheel wire broke on roll out--called it a day.

At least the smell of castor was good!

The trees is the problem we had at the new circle at City Park of KCK.  Couldn't get the city to cut some of the limbs.  The area is a soccar field with bleachers and lights.  No problem taking out the trees for that.

Glad to hear you are getting some flying in.  Wasn't so far I would come help you.  The hip only hurts when I try to fly.  Later,  DOC Holliday

I flew in contests in Alec in 1956-57. Lots of trees, a chain link fence around the circles, a beautiful place. I seem to remember it was in a residential section in a park. The stunt flyer to beat was a guy named Breard, I think that's how it is spelled.  It was a good time to be a teenager, the local hobby shop owner in Ruston, Cliff Stinson, loaded us all up in his Ford station wagon and off we'd go.

I will help any way I can if you decide to try a contest, David.

Well hello Dale.
Funny you should say these things considering chickens and ducks factor.

My Mom and Dad worked at Cliffs Hobby Shop and Bicycle shop and lived with or rented from Cliff.(Bill and June Roland.)
I was born in 56 but later knew Cliff and Opal fairly well--like grand parents.
We would go stay with them sometimes on week ends. Gail and Amy were daughters names?

Apparently Cliff, You,Dad, Chuck Anderson, Robert Grant, Breard and  probably Tommy S. were on the way to a contest which if dads memory serves correct You asked "what do you get when you cross a chicken and a duck?"(reference the Andersen's chicken and ducks)
 The answer is " a Chuck"
I understand Chuck came in 2nd at the nats with zero appearance points after rebuilding from a crash.

Also I understand that girl watching and hand launch gliders do not mix very well

Dad remembers the Breard, and just said his first name--memory thing on my end.
Just got off the phone with him and he said to tell you Hi!


Have heard these and other stories for most of my life.
Dad hauled me and friends to contest in Louisiana and Texas for years.
Combat fast and slow, Rat fast and slow and Goodyear.

I think I met you once 20 or so years ago when I was relocating utilities along Hwy 167
I was heavy into R/C at the time.
You put out fires?

Well now days I am trying to learn how to make a stunt plane act right and learn the pattern.
Trees do not seem to help! That problem is now cured by about 40ft.
Combat planes tend to make a cork screw out of me unless I lay down in the red bugs to fly!
