Our Club has agreed to host a fun fly in the central Florida area. The Rocket city RC club is located by fort Christmas, east of Orlando. The plan is to hold the funfly in May, so the question is, what would be the best date? I know the weekend of the 15th is out because of the Atlanta contest is on that weekend, so would the 8th be a good day? The RC guys have agreed to give up one Saturday so we will be able to have more circles to fly on.
Once the date is set then I plan to post in the event section.
-
That date is clear on my calendar.
-
Unfortunately, I am already committed to something every weekend in May. Sure would like to attend though.

The 8th should work, far enough away from Memorial Day to not cause conflict, and the guys already planning on going to Atlanta could use it for a tune up / trim / practice session.
It even looks like I may be in town and could get a kitchen pass to come out and play!
-
Sure sounds good to me
-
Hi Bob,
Will check w/ the guys and reply this week.

Be there whenever you schedule it. Keep in mind when you title it, that here in Lake Wales, we would like to hold on to the the title "7th CENTRAL FLORIDA FLY-IN" since the next one wil be our seventh.
Thanks,

Since I have never heard of Christmas Fl, I looked it up on google earth.

Is the site you have grass or asphalt.Jim

I should be able to do that Robert. My anniversary, and of course, Mothers Day is on sunday May 9th .... so THAT day is out! :-)
As always I look forward to seeing and flying with you again! Always a pleasure!

Ahhh Larry!
You had to go and remind me that my Annviversary is 6/7, but if I treat her right I should still be able sneak away on the 8th. The 9th being Mothers Day may be a bit harder to pull off.....
-
Thanks for the responses.
The plan is to have two or three grass circles for the day. If you think being so close to mother's day will be an issue, we could select a later date.
Phil, no problem with choosing different name.
Hey Bill, it sounds like you have a good reason to be in town that weekend.

;D From I-95 how do I get to your field?
-
Once the date is set, then I will post a map in the event section.
From 95, travel west on SR 50, Turn right onto Fort Christmas rd, go past the fort and the club access road is located on the right (north) side of the road and marked with a sign.

Hi Bob,
As of right now, we should have seven at your FunFly.

I have ran into a snag with getting the date through club approval. They want the event, but May 8th might be to early on the calender to get all the approvals. As soon as they give me a date for the event I will update this post and place it in the even section.
Realistically the end of may might be the earliest this can be pulled off and still give adequate notice for planning. Sorry for the delay, but I hope it will all come together in the end and we can gather for some fun.
-
If the rains don't flood the circle just come to Springfield MO and fly with us. LL~ LL~ LL~ H^^
-
John - MO would be a great place to go fly ... but alittle far for a road trip. :-)
Robert - Remember that the end of May is a long holiday weekend. Might be tough for
peoples to get availability that weekend. I'm available so far, with exception
to saturday the 29th.
Whatever happens, let us know!! Gettin' itchy to get together with other fliers in the area .... <scratch-scratch> :-)

Bob,
Welcome to the world of "Planning around things being planned!" n~
FYI -we., IRKS, have a club picnic on 6/5, b/u date 6/6, then travel to Brodaks week of 6/7, and Brodaks (6/15 -19) and then travel home week of 6/20.
I am sure there are others in the area planning to go to Brodak's and they will input to you.

Good News the club settled on a date. The fun fly will be held on Saturday the 22 May. I will put together the information with a map in the next week and post it in the event section. This event will be called, Rocket City Control Line Fun Fly.
We are planning on three circles with two of them able to accommodate 70' lines and one will be restricted to under 60' lines.
-
Hey, I think I can make it on the 22nd. I have marked it on the calendar.

Don't forget some good (cheap) motels.
-
I will have to check on the hotels. I know of some around the intersection of SR-50 and Alafaya trial that is approximately 20 minutes from the field on the east side of Orlando. There should also be some around I-95 and SR-50, but not shore which is quicker.
-
I should be able to do this ... hopefully these Florida winds will calm down in the next week or so. Its been tough getting any flying time the last 6 months!!
Will be looking for your post with address/directions!!
Looking forward to it! Larry

I have posted the flier in the events section and listed the hotels located around I-95 and SR-50. I look forward to seeing you there.

Robert,
A former CL flyer has asked me to help him to sell some of his inventory.
I will be bringing some of it to the Fun Fly , ie Brodak kits - ARF P-40, ARF Cardinal , ARF 1/2Abeam mount Baby Clown, ARF Bi-Slob (sold),plus other kits. A selection of engines including KB Stallions, Fox 35's, a few Norvels .061's and an .074, about 100 props, some new Tom Morris CL sets. there is more, still have to go through it. Reasonable offers will be accepted.
See you soon,
Roger V.
