Centering hinges...
« on: August 22, 2007, 09:11:21 AM »

  Hello Guy's,
Several years ago Dubro made a Hinge Slotting tool, it had a centering device as well as a tool to remove the wood, today I use a Great Plains Slot Machine with the centering tools. BUT, some of my slots aren't centered !!!
What are ya'll doing to prevent this ???   I need some suggestions... :! :! #^

Dacron hinges from Tom Morris! LL~ LL~

Actually, Central Hobbies has Tettra hinge centering device that works on tapered surfaces, which the Dubro does not do.   www.centralhobbies.com/tools/alignment.html#taper

Edited for fat fingering.  Also, I bought the G.P. hinge slotter--used it once and put it away.  I can do much better with a No. 11 and a metal fingernail file.
