Going to go visit my planes I left in Florida soon. Does anyone know if I can carry on my lines and handle?
Not planning on checking a bag.

Should be no problem. It is fuel and batteries they don't like. D>K

This might be a long shot, or might turn out for the good. Get with the airlines ahead of time and ask them if you can take it in a locking handgun box, just like you would a handgun. You allow them to inspect it, lock it in their sight, place it in your checked bagage, it's tagged, and you retrieve it at your destination.
I have taken my handgun that way with absolutely no problems, and if they are aware of it ahead of time you just might get away with it.

Batteries are all supposed to be in carry on.
Idea is that if there is a short/fire it is much better if it happens in the cabin where it can be dealt with than in the cargo hold.
Fuel is not allowed at all of course.

When I was traveling to and from college, I always had stuff in my carry on. I had lines, handles, and a PA 61 and pipe in there as well. Never had any issues

It's worth trying as the worst case scenario is you might be forced to check it as baggage, nothing more.
Technically, the regulations don't prohibit carrying on such items. HOWEVER, in the USA enroute to a Team Trials, I once had my flying handle confiscated by security. One thing about airport security is they don't need to quote you a regulation if they just have a feeling they don't like what you're carrying. Just as I though my FAI handle was gone for good, on the return flight my name was "paged" over the PA & I was allowed to return with my handle!
Whilst in London, I was prevented from boarding with a set of steel 1/2A lines & 2 (1.5V) NI-Starters. "Why would you want to take these on board, I was asked. " Well, they don't call this airport 'Thief-row' for nothing", I responded. Again no joy. So I had to go all the way back & check in my lines & ni-starters (in a plastic bag) as checked luggage. The only saving grace was given the impending departure time I asked for and received a security escort both to & back from the check in counter, so I wouldn't miss my flight...
So the answer is... IT DEPENDS on the personality of the person checking you! YEAH, not the answer I was hoping for either! (Just my experiences)
Sadly, post 9-11 & TSFA / Homeland Security made what was easy travelling, a whole lot more troublesome for the honest passengers...sigh!
