Title: Carpool requst from Fall Follies
Post by: Tim Wescott on October 07, 2011, 03:39:56 PM
Depending on how things shake out, it may vastly de-complicate my wife's life if I could get a ride for me and my plane from the Follies to Turner after the flying.  She wants me to drop my kid off at an musician's retreat; if Sportsman's profile starts late enough I'll just be able to do that before flying, but if not I'll have to send him on with the car and go pick it up later.

So -- will anyone have car space?  Turner is about 15 minutes south from the Salem airport.

I figured you were -- I'm only going to be able to make it for the one day.  Fortunately, I don't think I'll place in Sportsman Profile, so I'm probably safe to not show up at the awards ceremony.

It turns out that due to some miscommunication, procrastination, and scheduling difficulties on my kids part that he'll either not be attending or my wife will be taking him down.  So I I'm set after all.

BTW: work on the Flight Streak continues.  I'm experimenting with Polycrylic primers and Rustoleum paint, and I just made up a proof for the nose art decal.

Yea, I'm not making it either. Just too many other commitments and an unreliable car. Sigh...

Well my excuse it that it is just too darn far to drive in one day.   You guys eat a dog for the old DOC and don't forget the pics. LL~ LL~ LL~

There was no need, as it turned out -- The Kid's schedule did not work out.  But thanks.  I figured that if worse came to worst I could just show up and get a ride from someone, but it's nice to be sure.

As it turned out, Mike had a surplus of hamburgers at the Fall Follies.  I broke a long-standing rule, and consumed two of them (complete with onions and pickles)...BURP!

I guess Tim worked it out. If I'd known, I would have managed to get him to Turner, but since I left home at 4:30am Friday (and don't carry a laptop), I didn't know until Monday. I coulda/woulda picked him up in OC Friday AM or dropped him off Sunday night.   D>K Steve

Had it come down to me needing to beg a ride, Steve, yours would have been one of the familiar and friendly faces that I would have been hitting up.

Sure, why not? I got halfway to Albany after leaving Hunt's last year. At that point, the beach in the box (GPS) led me onto a logging road occupied by a herd of venisons. "Warning, Will Robinson!"  Going to Turner would have been a cake walk by comparison.  :-[ Steve
