Carpel-Tunnel Bluz in the night.
« on: May 20, 2008, 10:17:06 AM »
This Friday.... I GO UNDER DA' KNIFE...(after about 20 years of dealing with carpel tunnel problems in one hand or the other, N' covered under a lack luster AETNA (PPO) pizz-poor- plan I have been ignoring this problem ------
until about a month ago I finally INVESTED $500 co-pay for an MRI and another $650 for a Neurosurgeon evaluation test scans to stupidly determine something that I have already known that sooner or later would have to be address.

I have little or no feeling in my right fingers and hand..and even worse, I am losing all dexterity and control of my hand which means that I must finally "FESS-UP" that I can barley control a pen, pencil,  and ever worse not enough muscle mass to hold a hobby knife--not counting a U-control handle.  I have been using my left hand more and more for typing and tying my shoes.

If I am lucking and if the Great Lord takes a LIKING  instead of a LICKIN' to me... I WILL BE BACK to back the drawing table and stunt model building table again?

GADS! WHAT CRAPPOLDO' TIMING...for a HAND-WHACK-N' HACK!
Something about the Grin on my Doc's face...bothers me? What do you think? mw~

Dondo, Dondo, Dondo,

That right hand of yours combined with any type of scribe is simply and pleasingly a National Treasure.  The archives of us wire yankers and our scrolls are laden with your works and we have missed your etchings.

All of us wish you the very best and can hardly wait for YOUR RETURN TO HE CANVAS!!!
Some of us invent ways to appear talented, YOU MY FRIEND ARE ABUNDANTLY TALENTED!!  As I tell all those kids who weren't even swimmers in the '60s.............RIGHT ARM!!

I'm with Phil. I dabble, you're an artist. Take care of those mitts. I wish you all the luck. I really want to see you back on the circle, flying with us at Da Narrows and building another masterpiece. That would be awesome.

You know Mark and I both are planning a Classic Avenger.

I feel for ya... I haven't been able to fully use my Right hand for months due to Shingles. Mine will get better without having to go through what you are, best of luck on your surgery.

That's good to hear Bill, I've been a chef for 30 plus years and my right wrist is starting to get very sore from all the knife work. I fear I'm going to be in the same boat very soon.

I guess if they get the transplants mixed up, you'll be able to tip your hat to the ladies without aggravating the carpal tunnel.

Hey Smotzie,
We're all thinking of you and hope the surgeon is a good one. The one that reset my right wrist really screwed it up. It now looks like it has a Z bend in
it. Maybe it will help my flying over time.

Good Luck Buddy!!!

Schultzie, take care man,  I really enjoy the pictures and works you put on this here forum.  I know weveral people that have had the surgery and are doing great.  Some even better than before.  As far as the other stuff I guess we have to live with it as long as the good LORD will let us.  I still can't figure, born and start wearing diapers,  now getting old and wearing diapers again.  DOC Holliday

Don
By now, I hope you are recovering.  My mother had BOTH wrists done at the same time when she was in her 70's.  The day after the surgery, she and my wife were playing cards.  She couldn't shuffle for a few days but she could deal and play.  She only regretted not getting it done sooner.

Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Typing this with my left hand...right in a soft cast.
Worse than the MRI revealed but according to Dr. Sawbones...best he could do...since it appears that the problem is coming from a pinched nerve in my spine just belong my scrawny neck.  After this paw heals...may have to go in for a neck thinggeeee?  SH^ %^

That sounds like serious stuff. After I had my stroke they checked my neck for any blockaged so I told the nurse he was checking in the wrong place. I actually got a smile from this guy. Medical people are very serious people so I always try to get them to smile. So far I have gotten one Docter to smile. His Name Is Holiday. These guys are all going to die with a frown on their face. ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? HB~>

Hi Don,

I hate to hear the neck deal.  I have been living for years now with a lack of discs in my neck (three are almost completely gone!) and no surgery yet.  it can cause some pretty intense pain at times.  Finally had a neck/brain scan a few weeks ago, and it revealed the problem.   And according to the Doc, it has been going on for quite a while.  A great side benefit is that the spinal canal is getting more narrow all the time (a touch of sarcasm).......  But, hey, we do the best we can.

Good luck!

You didn't mention the most important part of your scan-the fact they actually DID detect a brain!!!!!!   (they did find one, didn't they??) VD~ VD~

Donnie,

I wanted to let you know that I told Paul Walker that you were considering building a plane after you recovered from your surgery. He said I should tell you that he doesn't believe you. He says that he's heard that tune before.

Hey, I stood up for you saying that Donnie wouldn't fib. He really will build another plane. Really.
