Carmel Fun Fly
« on: September 10, 2017, 08:13:02 PM »
Some time ago I got an E-Mail wanting to know if I would be interested in a fun fly.   Of course I had to ask where and when.   Well today was the day and even though my grand daughter is upset because I kept my Suburban so I could go.   I took 6 planes and got 4 of them air born for flights.  Have learned on thing combat wings don't like mu uni-flo set up.   They well be on pressure of some kind next time out.   Got several flights on the Estes Ringmaster and my scratch built Super Ringmaster.   It does not like rich needle settings and a butterfly that kept getting in my face didn't help.  Jim Lee put up three different airplanes showing us how the pattern should be done.   Dave had 3 trainer type planes that he got people up on.  Even watch a gentleman that is a few months older than me do a decent flight on his Smoothie.   Needless to say I am beat and the knees are screaming at me.  Broke down and took a pain pill a while ago.   I took a few pictures but since we have the new printer it won't let me down.   So if and when I get them down loaded I will post them.   It was fun and I got to see a fellow RC'r I hadn't seen in years.  The burger and beans was great also.  My thanks to HAFFA and the members for a great time.

Almost for got.  There were some FF planes in the air.  The RC assist made me think of how much pleasure I got flying RC gliders with power pods or even rubber launches.  They have a really nice site up there.   A little off the beaten path but easy to find if a person pays attention.   Missed the turnbut needed a stop at Perry KS any way to take care of nature. H^^

Hi Doc,
Sounds like fun.  Hey what's this nonsense about being old.  You're younger than me and just about everybody here in Tucson that fly's CL is older than me.  Don't forget Eddy Capitenelli at 83.  LL~

Glad you were able to have some fun.

Yes I did have fun.  Finally loaded pictures to the lap top and that is where this is coming from.  Guess I could have kept playing with the main computer until it either worked or I broke it.  But this is easier.  Don't remember names other than Jim Lee and Dave Trible flying and getting people up on Dave's trainer.  The one old timer who older then me has the Smoothie and flew it well.  Even though it is a hay field Suman had it mowed down really well.

It was a fun day.  This was the first time we've flown at HAFFA Carmel site.  That's Heart of America Free Flight Association.  The site owner flies a little of both and is more than eager to put down a concrete or asphalt circle here at his expense.  It's a little out of the way but you can fly both here together.  This gives us three flying sites within an hour of each other.  Things are looking up.  Just need more bodies to use them.  Carmel has two storage sheds,  a nice covered patio and two bathrooms,  all with running water and electric power.  Blue Sky field,  the one shared with the R/C guys has about the same facilities with one restroom and our field in Shawnee has.... plenty of tall weeds..LOL.

That's the problem, getting guys out to fly.  My spoiled grand daughter keeps my schedule all screwed up.
