Cardinal Color Scheme??
« on: September 24, 2009, 05:14:20 AM »
I am nearly finished the building of my Brodak profile Cardinal.  Now comes the hard part,... picking a color scheme for it!!  I like yellow, orange, and red with blue trim and lettering but just can not come up with a pattern or scheme to but on this new bird.

Any suggestions or pictures of existing Cardinals would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a whole bunch!!

Sincerely,
Steve Teerlinck

Hi Steve, here are a couple of paint schemes I came up with in less about 10 minutes.  No wing scheme though :P .  The red and orange look the same, but they are different colors.

I think Wendy's original full blown Cardinal was Candy Apple Red.  He repainted it in Kawasaki Green after the red one got 20 Points at the Nats.  I know it was the same plane, and I think it was Candy Red when he got the 20 points, and I know it got repainted in the green...........  been a while! I have a reduced size Cardinal.  It is my version of the Bob Zambelli Cardinette.  4 stroke for power.  Soon as hip gets well will get if flying more.  Is is solid white with the grey primer used for the graphics/numbers.   Need to reload pictures so I can post them.   DOC Holliday

Hey Paul,
Yes, my Cardinal flys. In fact, I had at last years Fall Fun Fly and was one of the few that flew on that very windy day in April.

Hey Guys,...

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply and make some great suggestions!!  I appreciate everybody's input.  I finally finished covering my Brodak profile Cardinal.  Added all the graphics and now I'm just waiting for the warmer weather to fly it.

Matt,... I liked your suggestion of the red tail and borrowed some of your ideas from your Super Oriential color scheme.  You know what they say, "Imitation is the highest form of flattery"  Thanks a million!!

P.S.  Now I'm hoping to start a full fuselage Cardinal Evolution!!  Unfortunately my son's Seventh grade science project is starting to take over the workshop.  He's building a wind tunnel and testing the lift of three different airfoils!!

Hey Guys,..

Thank you very much for all the kind words and compliments on my new Cardinal.

Leester,...  I sent Windy the photos of my plane and he replied back saying he was going to use the pictures for his Subscriber's DVDs.  Windy said to "Keep the photos coming"!!

Once again,.. thank to everyone for the encouragement and the kudos!!
