Where can I purchase carbon fiber mat?
My supply is running low and I cannot remember where I purchased my last stash.

I have good results from this vendor I found on Ebay, fast delivery:https://www.ebay.com/itm/Carbon-Fiber-Cloth-Fabric-Veil-Chopped-Mat-35-5-20oz-7gsm/131493767816?_trksid=p2046732.c100040.m2060&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107095009%26meid%3D55600bd2436c42f88199f2f4d15e63e4%26pid%3D100040%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D131493767816 Here's another vendor, started by a Free Flighter, I believe #^ http://www.cstsales.com/a-carbon-fiber-tissue-veil.html Not sure why the first vendor is not coming through, just type in Carbon Veil on "search" on Ebay to find it.

ACP Composites. You want .2 ounce CF tissue, sometimes called "veil". I did a search, .2 ounce carbon fiber veil on Google and it came up immediately.
-
ACP at Livermore airport, that’s were I get mine.

Thanks guys!!
Very much appreciate your help and response.

Jim Aron said that ACP had two types: a nice-looking one and an ugly one. He said to get the ugly one. ACP told me that Jim got their old part # MC-03C. Their new part number is VL-CF-0.2-1. Has anybody gotten the new part number? Is it the same stuff as the old part number?

I would have thought by now (after all these years) you would know better than to trust that Aron guy.

Yep. Next thing you know, he'll be telling me that he's building a profile B-36 stunt plane.

Howard, the CF veil that Chris, Ark and I got recently was marked VL CF 0.2 previous part number MC 03 C. Jusr order .2oz from ACP.

Before your response above, I attached the following to my ACP order: "You had two forms of this .2 oz. tissue. The one I want is the uglier of the two, per Jim Aron. He said that Justin will know which one." They responded, "I was able to take a look at this and see that Jim Aron used to purchase our old part # MC-03C. However we have since changed to new part numbers and packages. We currently only carry the 1 .2 oz CF veil, the one you selected however now it comes in the following options:
VL-CF-0.2-1 (1 Yard Pack)
VL-CF-0.2-3 (3 Yard Pack)
VL-CF-0.2-P (per Yard over 4 yards)"
My response: "Is VL-CF-0.2 the same as MC-03C? Please ask Justin. If it is, I would like a 3-yard pack, VL-CF-0.2-3, please. If VL-CF-0.2 is the same as the other stuff you used to have that is not the MC-03C, I don’t want any."
I haven't heard from them since. Either the current stuff is the substandard stuff, or they don't want to mess with me.

I have a psychological problem with carbon tissue. Whenever I use it, it turns into a mess. I usually sand it off. The only way I will keep it on is if I'm assured that the stuff I'm using is the best available, and I just gotta try harder. Therefore, I want to make sure I have the good stuff. Thanks for your tips.
It's probably all the same. I suspect that carbon tissue, like that blue fillet stuff, is a hoax invented by Deep Stunt and propagated by the fake stunt media.

I purchased 10 yards of VL-CF-0.2-P. Has been used on 2 airplanes now. Works great.
Goes down easy, and does not clump up. Just don't do more than introduce the clear on the brush to it the first time.

I just ordered three yards, only got 10% off but thats OK. Before I've purchased from CST. I have best luck applying it with a mix of about 20% dope and 80% thinner. It's very easy to sand when dry before applying any more dope.

Just got some from brodak. They have 0.5 and 0.2 carbon mat

Almost too easy - in that state you can scrape it off with the edge of the paper, if you aren't careful.

Yes you have to be careful. Another thin coat of dope before sanding would be better. Once you get several coats on it's a tough sand. I've been putting on two layers on most of the fuselage over moulded shells etc., and three in certain areas. After that you could almost pull the balsa out if you you could. Very stiff and light.

I got the new ACP stuff. It's the best I've used, thanks to Paul's advice. Still, though, the emperor's new clothes look a little coarse to me. I think he'd look more regal in silk.
