Title: Carbon composite propellers for stunt
Post by: Matt Piatkowski on May 05, 2021, 11:47:56 AM
Hello,
I have a chance to order the carbon composite propellers for the C/L stunt.
At this moment, only two-blade 11x5.5 pushers can be produced.

The manufacturer told me that the 11x5.5 pusher propeller will weigh 18 grams.
The hub of it will be solid carbon laminate and drillable to accommodate the shaft and/or propeller adapters up to 9.5 mm.
The hub will be 8 mm. thick.

The production requires an initial investment of about USD 500.
I am willing to invest USD 500 if there is enough interest among the C/L fliers.

For example: if a hundred propellers are ordered, the final price per piece will be about USD 15, including shipping to the final destination.

Attention: the shipping costs cannot be guaranteed - they may or may not change depending on the worldwide situation. Please remember also about potential customs fees.

I have asked the manufacturer to send me the SolidWorks and/or On-Shape geometry of the propeller for assessment.

12x5, 5.5, or 6 two-blade and 12x5, 5.5, or 6 three-blade are also considered.

Gee $500 for how many props? At $50 a prop you'd have to sell 1000 props, not sure this sounds like a deal the Shark Tank would go for, I'm out.

Motorman 8)

10 props !

I would be interested to see how that works out.  I'm making a few props.  I'm in about $800 for six molds and the first handful of props.  The material cost is about $20.00 per prop, 2 plus hours direct labor and can only turn the mold once in about 24 hours, if I'm around to to clean it, wax and prep it for the next shot.  Hmmmmmmmm....

Hello,

The manufacturer does not want to show me the geometry of the propeller but wants the money.

I am not paying anything without seeing the geometry first.

Sorry guys.
