Title: Carb Cleaner

  Has any one tried this to clean up an engine, and how did it work?  Thanks

there used to be stuff called 2 plus 2 it worked great but it is no longer avaliable

Any strong alkaline would work ok.  I use castrol super clean and scrub brush but if it's really burnt on you have to bead blast. I use to electro clean parts with red devil drain cleaner mixed into a caustic soda. I'm from Jersey though.

  How did it do cleaning the inside? I have an engine that the wrist pin will not move and I want to try to get it cleaned so that I don't do any damage to it.

I use  Berryman's  Carb Clean   It comes in a gallon pail  with it own  dip tray, leave in overnight, the burned on crud  washers right off.

Have you tried heat? Put it in an oven @ 250 for 20 minutes. You can make a puller. Round off the end of 1/16" music wire then bend a small hook in it so you can get behind the rod near the top. Hold the other end with vise grips. The heat will soften the goop so pull while it's still hot. If you make the hook just right you can pry against the counter weight.

   Remove any plastic parts and the backplate, and put it in the oven at 250-300. It will loosen up. Failing that, crock-pot. I would avoid any chemicals aside from ethylene glycol.

Insofar as pulling a stuck rod goes try using a small or just large enough to fit allen wrench! These work well and your not pulling against a piece of bent piano wire which might straighten and really scratch something!
