I'm trying to find a 1/2 inch wide canopy to put on a S1 Ringmaster. Put a clear canopy on a PDQ Flying Clown about 15 years ago and really liked the way it looked, but can not remember where I got it. It was .550 wide x 1.375 tall x 5.50 long. I checked with Sig & 1.375 is as narrow as they go. Any one steer me in the right direction?

Jeff,
Have you tried making one out of a soda bottle? You make the plug the size and shape you want. Then follow a stuffing and heat shrinking process using a heat gun. For a Ringmaster canopy you could use either a 1 liter or a 2 liter bottle. There are other posts about this under the building category. (Use the seach function here and look for canopy.) There have been articles in prior magazines. If you want to go that route, there are guys here who you can always ask questions. And you don't have to worry about the cost of scrap--the empties are cheap.
If you feel you cannot tackle that, I can pull one from a profile plug that I have. I'd have to check to see how close it matches an S-1 part if that matters to you. I won't claim the optics will be perfect because the bottles aren't perfect to begin with, but for a sport plane, I have been satisfied in the past. You cover the cost of postage and we can make it happen that way, too.
There may be a source out there for profile canopies. I just have not looked. If so, someone else will chime in.
There is at least one profile canopy in the Brodak listing:

Have you tried Park Flyer Plastics? I'd call them.

I checked the Park Flyer listing. He has dozens of canopies but it does not appear to have anything compatible with a profile fuselage. Still might check.

Check back with Sig, the Twister canopy should suit you well.

Tim Wescott started a thread about his similar efforts to come up with a clear plastic canopy for his provile scale Errorcoupe...or was it a Mooney Mite? Anyway, it might be a source of useful...or useless...information on the subject. I'm not sure what he ended up with, but do know that he's supposed to be at the NWCLR this weekend, so don't expect him to answer questions until Monday at the soonest. You might find that thread via the "search" function. ??? Steve

Here's a link to the prior profile canopy thread that Steve referred to:

Brodak used to have plastic canopies. I found one in my junk box that might work for youi It is slightly smaller than the original Ringmaster canopy but it would be serviceable I think.
Yours for postage if you want it.

If you're not doing a scale subject it's probably silly to have the Zirolli folks make you a custom canopy -- but the how-to is in that thread (just remember that every stupid little flaw in the plug you send in will be faithfully reproduced).
