Safety check
« on: October 01, 2006, 10:07:24 PM »
I'm sure we all have a mental check list we go through before we fly to make sure the plane is ready.  I do the usual check of the motor bolts, prop, spinner, landing to make sure all are tight.  At the St. Louis contest I had a new plane with only a about 20 to 30 flights.  This is the first plane that I've used Tom Morris left handed thread adjustment with the slider elevator horn and it never occurred to me to check it before I flew.  After a practice flight Sparky and Gary Hajek were watching and noticed the elevator needed adjustment, probably saved the plane because the bolt was almost out (thanks gentleman for the help).

Moral of the story I guess is double check that you're checking everything.
