Title: Can someone splane some about F2D F?D FD??

I read about F2D and some other type of F?D and some I don't remember.

Can someone list out all the different types of "D" flying??

Well there is always the destunt and deracing of coarse here in Missouri were are deicing! I have no clue. Just messing around! LL~

It's all to do with the FAI the bunch who control world aeromodelling competitions.

F1 is free flight, F2 is control line, F3 is radio control and F4 is scale.

F2A is speed (max engine size .15 cu in = 2.5cc), F2B is aerobatics, F2C is team racing (.15 ci), F2D is combat (.15ci), F2E is diesel combat (.15ci).

F4B is c/l scale.

Be advised F2C and F2D are not for the faint of heart these are full blown in your face racing and combat events and thats not to say F2A is for sissys.

Scott F2C, almost a decent pit man.

Well, Paul, you don't want F2D, then!  It ain't slow........

The FAI doesn't have slow, that's pretty much a USA event I guess....

I am a little biased, a real good friend wrote it.... ;)  He has had a lot of fun with F2d and travel.

F2d is the full blown international combat class.  They use .15 engines that really scream.  They are special motors that turn tiny props 25k+.  They hurt your ears to run.  They are amazing engines.  the airplanes do about 90+.

The cool thing about F2d is that lead to some real innovative airplanes.  The Russian style airplanes are light very strong and turn plenty tight.  I have crashed straight in them without damage.  You can get them ready to fly for not a lot of money.  They work very well with a hot .15 or a normal .25 motor also.  

Slow combat is dead in the US, Speed limit is flown more often.  Speed limit has very few restrictions on engines or airplanes, only a top speed of 75 or 80mph.  A 8x4 prop on an LA 25 is about right.

F refers to Section F of the Federation Aeronautic Internationale' Sporting Code.

Sections A, B, C, D, and E cover man-carrying airplanes, balloons, parachuting, spacecraft, etc.

Paragraph 1 covers vol libre,
Paragraph 2, vol circular,
Paragraph 3, telecommade,
Paragraph 4, scale,
Paragraph 5, radio shack.

The lower case letters a, b, c, & d designate individual event; speed, stunt, racing, and combat.

Elwyn,  good videos.  Brings back memories of the Worlds in Muncie.  Even tho I was confined to F2C during the competition rounds,  still got to see some good matches from even that far away.  The fly aways were spectacular as they arked over into the corn fields.  Thanks,  DOC Holliday
