Looks like a handle for holding hand horizontally instead of vertical like most of us.  I knew several guy in the Sky Devils club that flew horizontal hand with down line on the palm side. D>K

It looks like a takeoff of the "Circle King" Handle.
The Circle King was a manufactured all metal handle.
I think it was invented by a combat flyer.

It looks a little like the "Ring King" handle used by Johnny Carr and several of the CMI Models Guillotine combat team.  It was used as Doc described with the hand held horizontally.  I'm not sure what the dowel sticking out on this one is about.  The Ring Kings didn't have that.  When you went inverted you rolled your hand over palm up and the now-top line was still up.  They usually also used a round dowel or broom stick rather than this square wood.Dave

Yes I did post it on facebook.  I didn’t bother to post it here on SH as I knew the demographic here would nail it in no time.  It’s interesting to watch the younger demographic on FB flounder and make guesses.  Not so fun was the contingent that popped up and said “you better not even think about possibly trying to use that thing because those clevis pins will fail if you look at them wrong and you’ll lose your airplane!”  Then I added that I received it as part of a lot of 1/2A stuff and it would probably pass the pull test and work well enough.  Face book… SHEESH!

Maybe the seller will pop in here with more details.

I am glad to see references here to the Circle King.  Gave me something to look up.
