Can someone do me a favour please

If you have a Vector 40 plan - can you take a straight edge and lay it down the centre line of the fuse (over the drawn line) and tell me if it is straight...

I will explain why soon

Thanks Randy - I take it your plan is not from the brodak kits -

Reason I asked is I started vedtor number 5 last night and lay a staight edgealong the brodak plan - the centre line is curved by 7mm at the back of the fuse -

Now I have built over the Brodak plans on my first 4  and wondered why the fuselage never lined up - now I know why -  there are also a number of other anomolies on the brodak plan that make constucting a straight plane nearly impossible.

Maybe I should write to John about it..........

I say you should contact the manufacturer first before ever bringing it out on public forum.  Myself I have very seldom built a fuselage using the plan other than to mark former locations on one fuselage side.  The formers have the center marked on them and I build on a make shift jig.  Have fun,  DOC Holliday

Wynn

My plan has a bit of a bow along the fuselage centreline but only about 1mm.  I regard that almost as expected in a paper plan rolled and shoved in a box and shipped half way around the world.

I agree with Doc's comments about how to build as well.

Cheers, Geoff

I built for years by just marking center lines and lineing everythig up and sometimes it didn't work to well. I now own a incident meter to line wing and stab and the last 4 models I built sat right in the grove when flying. This insterment is a very worthwhile tool for the price. this is about as easy of a fix for model building than anything else. Give it a try #^ #^ #^ #^ #^ HB~>

this is not really for me - but for other people - maybe newbies that build over plans, as instructed in the booklets - would make for tough going to build something straight if all the plans were like the ones I have -

I think you did good at even noticing that the plans were off. Most people wouldn't. Good job and you will be a good builder just by being carful to not make mistakes. Usually most of us devise our own method of making things strait and usually they work. Keep up good work. Leo ;D
