Title: Can I get a little help from my on-line friends?
Post by: Paul Taylor on November 10, 2007, 02:49:23 PM
I am getting “Old Timers”.
I read some place a week or so about making adjustable lead outs using pop rivets, pictures and a very good how to.
I can not for the life of me remember where I saw it.
CLW, SN, on the dub-dub-dub.someplace.com??? ???
Anyone else seen that bit if info?

Paul,

Look at the Tempest 40 wing I gave you.  It uses eyelets inserted in the wingtip for adjustments.

I think I know what you're talking about Paul..........I used lead outs like that on my Profile Mustang. Supposedly the pinch created by the slot on the pop rivet guide will hold it in place. I used  drop of CA as insurance. y1

I have been using a similar method for years now, that I prefer. I use
a pin vise to hand drill holes in nylon 4-40 screws and then screw these
into the leadout holes. I tap the holes in the tap with a 4-40 tap, and
then soak them in CyA glue and retap them. This system works great,
and there is less chance of a nylon screw coming loose.

Just finished printing off the great pictures of the adjustable leadouts.   Looks a lot neater than I have ever done.  I have also tried the one with the eyelets that push in and out for adjustment.  But there are times you need a finer adjustment.  Anyway they both work.  Have fun, DOC Holliday
