Can anyone identify this engine?
« on: March 16, 2011, 02:49:25 PM »
Found this in my junk box. 2.5 CC, might be good for Perky.

The intake has "LM25/1" cast on it, 2.5 is cast on the bypass port and 0916 is stamped on the left lug. No other markings.

Check out the odd muffler.

So, what is it?

My guess is it's probably East German, I've seen a few similar engines on eBay Germany

Possibly BWM? Or was it BMV? I'll see if I can do some checking.

As I recall, it was in the box at one time. I will look for it and hopefully identify this mysterious engine.

Thanks for the help!

Looks German/Italian or Eastern euro to me. Can you ID any of the threads?

... It is all over ebay in Europe. This one (unused) was asking for 70 Euro, but there were no takers.

I've never heard of it before, but that doesn't mean a thing.

Yes it is East German.  The engine was made in a factory near Leipzig.  The factory folded around the time the wall did - in the late 1980’s.  Willi Schmitz gave me one when I returned to Germany in 1995 and the significance was - I was raised in a little town called Delitch near Leipzig, East Germany.  I still have the factory fresh engine in the box.   A very nice gesture of Mr Schmitz.

Thanks to all for the responses!
In the near future, I will test and evaluate the engine and post a small report - OK?

THANKS AGAIN!!  Bob Z.
