screens
« on: June 20, 2011, 01:43:39 PM »
Got some 5/16" fuel filters and when I opened them there was no screen inside..

They are not new, so I can't say bad things about the mfg.
Anybody know whare I can get screen's or new filters?  The 5/16 is the size wrench needed to dis assemble them, the filter is about 1/8" in dia.
   Hope that this is clear..
   Thanks a lot...

A head shop or here, you can then cut them to fit.

Cox used to make a  red plastic plug that fits into the top of their fuel cans. These can be found even on the Ebay stores. I just happened to have a few laying around. The screens are actually finer that the ones that come with the filter that you have. They will pop right out of the plastic plug and into your filter housing. Ken

I use something I got from aviation called micromesh. It's stainless and ultra fine. It's fun to cut out new filters from it.

Similar to Garf's suggestions, I was given a rather large amount of micro scree a friend of mine picked up while fixing US Marine Corps. F-4B Phantoms in 'nam.  He gave me a life time supply back in 1973.  Very, very fine stainless screen, the smallest I have seen and it works great!  Micron wire......  have to cut it with a good set of tin snips.  Fuel will pass through, but not much of anything else.
